Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Victoria

This week, we spotlight our fourth-grader Victoria, who will join grade 5 after the summer break. Victoria has been part of the ISR Family since she first enrolled in grade 1. Her teachers describe her as an incredibly caring individual, she displays this towards her classmates and her teachers and tries to help them in every situation. Her empathy often extends to animals as well. Victoria is a tremendous student who puts others before herself. In the academic field Victoria is very committed and her teacher, Mr. Bernard adds “She works hard every day in all subjects and is also willing to help others when they need help too.”
Her academic coordinator Ms. Ghica adds “Victoria is curious and very eager to learn across all different subjects, and it is these qualities that make her an outstanding student. Her friendly and courteous nature makes her a great asset to the ISR school community. Well done and good luck in Grade 5!”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Viuna

This week, we spotlight our tenth-grader, Viuna, who joined ISR last year. Viuna is a friendly and helpful student who has a great attitude towards learning. Even as a new student here at ISR, Viuna found it very easy to settle in and make connections. She always gives her best in class. Viuna is especially ambitious in science and has been able to convince her teachers of her knowledge.
Her science teacher Mr. O´Brien adds, “Viuna joined physics at the beginning of the year as a new student at ISR. She immediately impressed me with her work ethic. She was always an active participant, and she contributed wonderfully to the physics lessons. It was a pleasure teaching her this year!” Viuna was also able to quickly convince her chemistry teacher Ms. Vig of her knowledge and her exemplary work ethic. “She has wonderful chemistry with her peers and is always ready to give a helping hand! She takes pride in her work and has a great attitude to learning! With this in mind, I know she will reach her goals!”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Harry

This week, we spotlight our KG1 student Harry who joined ISR in 2019. At first he was a bit shy, but he quickly developed into an open-hearted, bright student, who loves to talk about anything and everything. ,”We are so proud of Harry’s development!”, adds his KG teacher, Ms. Daisy. Harry stands out for his caring and helpfulness. His friends and teachers appreciate these qualities in him very much. His empathy extends to his peers, as it is important to Harry that everyone in his class is doing well. When someone in his kindergarten group needs support, Harry is the first to step up and offer his help.
Harry loves working on his math workbook pages and is always the first one to put his hand up during our circle time activities! His kindergarten teacher Ms. Daisy concludes: “It’s been an honor to watch Harry grow up to be such a bright and motivated learner! He’s become such a social butterfly, and we are very excited to watch all the fantastic things he continues to exceed at!” Harry has developed into a wonderful young boy during his time in our kindergarten, and we are so happy to have him.

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Lennox

This week, we spotlight our eighth-grader student Lennox, who joined ISR in first grade. Lennox is characterized by his friendly nature and willingness to help. He is an attentive student who always gives his best in class. He is highly motivated, despite the fact that he attended class virtually for the past school year, this did not change his commitment and performance, as his teacher Ms. Macanovic confirms. Lennox already demonstrates a great sense of responsibility, and this is also reflected in his relationship with his younger sister. “He’s an incredibly great big brother,” says Mr. Mo, a supervisor at ISR. It is always obvious how caring and responsible he is.
Lennox’s great passion includes sports, and he is a talented footballer. Karsten Baumann, Head of the Sports Department at ISR adds, “For him as an athlete and passionate footballer, the last few months have been particularly difficult. He was always one of the first to be on the pitch for the SLOⓇ activity changed and could hardly wait for it to start. I have found Lennox to be a very friendly and positive student who always has a smile on his face.”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Wenqi

This week, we spotlight our tenth-grader student, Wenqi who joined ISR two years ago.
Wenqi is an outstanding student whose results put her at the top of her grade at ISR. She is passionate, hardworking, and is focused on achieving the best academic results.
Wenqi has impressed all her teachers with her commitment, especially in German lessons. “With her hard work, she has improved in two years academic language skills in German as a Foreign language what other students can reach almost in four years. She asked for more homework, worksheets, and reading assignments, every assignment was an intentional challenge for her! It was a great pleasure having her in my class, teaching her, enjoying her interest and attention. She is a present for every teacher!”, so her German teacher, Ms. Horvath. Her former teacher Ms. Herda is impressed by her achievements and is looking forward to teaching her in grade 11 after the summer break. “ I know Wenqi from grade 9, I taught her the German beginners’ course. Unfortunately, I did not teach her this year, but I am looking forward to next school year because Wenqi will be my student again. Wenqi will choose “German B”, which is remarkable because, as I said, she only started learning German 2 years ago.” In addition to Wenqi’s academic success, she stands out because of her kind and friendly disposition. She is very polite to those around her and incredibly determined.
Her physics teacher adds, “Wenqi is an outstanding physics student who is extremely dedicated to her academic success. When I see Wenqi working on a physics problem I can almost hear her brain clicking the pieces of the puzzle together to arrive at the solution. I know her talents are not restricted to the world of science, but I would see her as a great asset to the field. She is patient, polite, and respectful to both teachers and her classmates. She is such a pleasure to teach!”

This week, we spotlight our third-grader Ava, who joined ISR last year. When Ava and her sister joined ISR, they quickly settled in and won over their teachers. Ava has a lovely character and is characterized by her friendliness and her bright personality. Her classmates have taken her directly to their hearts and she has been able to make friends quickly. She is interested in the art and science classes, and she also incredibly enjoys reading.
One of Ava’s great strengths is that she is incredibly inquisitive, in class she questions a lot and can’t know enough. Her teacher Ms. Schmidt says about her “Ava was new to ISR this year but is already part of the family. Ava is a kind and loving member of the 3C team. She is a genuine and friendly student, who is well liked by her peers. Ava takes great care and effort in producing excellent work. She is a talented writer and very creative student. Ava always has her nose buried in an interesting new book, so if you ever need advice on what to read, please ask Ava. She is definitely an asset to our class!“

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Young Bin

This week we spotlight our eleventh grader Young Bin, who joined ISR in 2019. Young Bin is an extremely dedicated student and is also involved in the SLO® Department. In SLO®, he has taken to delivering radio ISR with gusto and charm, offering a flair and warming take on the news around the school. Young Bin is friendly and has very good manners. He is also a strong academic student and his teachers are impressed by his dedication to his classes and lessons. “Young Bin is the quiet talent in the class. He caught me off-guard when I graded his first exam, and he achieved top marks! It took me a while to realize how good he was at Physics, he is definitely a pleasure to teach!”, says his science teacher Mr. O´Brien.
One of Young Bin’s other strengths lie in linguistics. His German teacher Ms. Herda adds “Young Bin has been in my German B HL course since the beginning of this year, I think I speak for his teachers and also for his classmates: It’s great to have him in the course. Young Bin is helpful, determined, organized, hardworking, but is still always up for any fun in class.”
After the Summer Break, Young Bin will spend his last year at ISR preparing intensely for his IB exams. After graduating at ISR, Young Bin would like to study Business Management in Germany or the Netherlands. We are certain that because of his talent and determination to succeed, Young Bin will realize his plans.

This week, we spotlight our third-grader Lena-Marie, who joined ISR in 2017. Lena-Marie is a hard-working and very kind-hearted student. She always works to the best of her abilities and does everything with a smile on her face. Lena-Marie has a wonderful sense of humor, which her teachers and classmates appreciate very much.
Her strong empathy and caring nature are qualities that make her a wonderful friend. When her classmates have questions during class, Lena-Marie is the first to be supportive and patient as well as enthusiastic in helping them. Lena is super athletic and loves to spend her breaks outside in the sun. She loves playing tag or skipping with her friends and you often see her doing hand-stands in the playground. Also, she is talented soccer player and shows her skills during the breaks.
Her German teacher, Mrs. Hartman, says about her, “She is such a great student. Lena is always ready, cheerful and in the mood for a joke. She is very empathetic and helps others. Having Lena in class is a delight!”

This week, we spotlight our Kindergarten student Leda, who joined ISR this academic year. From her first day at ISR she made friends with the whole class and continues to do so with anyone she meets. Leda is always the first to welcome a new student to the class by showing them to their chair, offering her favorite toys, and always making people feel comfortable and welcomed. She always tries her hardest at anything she does and never says no to a challenge! Leda stands out for the helpfulness and kindness that she shows to everyone.
Her friends and teachers also appreciate these qualities in her very much and her Early Years Educator, Ms. Wells, adds, “it has been a pleasure to have Leda in my class, she always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She really is a superstar and we are so proud of her! Keep shining, Leda!” Her German teacher, Ms. Schneider, is also enthusiastic about Leda’s character traits and progress in Kindergarten. “She is really keen on learning German as well as everything else and has a lot of fun using the words and phrases she has already learned. Leda is a great role model for her friends and I can’t wait to see how much she will grow next school year.”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Patrik

This week, we spotlight our humorous fourth-grader Patrik, who joined ISR in 2018. Patrik is a very dedicated student in everything he does. In academics, Patrik has a very quick grasp, and it is easy for him to follow the lesson content. His ability to pick up new concepts quickly and apply them to real-life situations is outstanding.
Patrik is very polite towards his fellow students and convinces with his outstanding humor, ambition, and team spirit. “It´s great to see, how he motivates his teammates and how he takes over leadership responsibilities”, as Mr. Baumann, Head of PE, says about him.
Patrik’s main passion is sports. He is an outstanding young athlete and his athletic coordinator, Ms. Schierl, is deeply inspired by his achievements. “I have spent a lot of time with Patrik after school, as he regularly trains in the track and field team. Patrik is the kind of athlete you wish for as a coach. He is full of energy, always strives to improve his performance and implements any advice you give to him. Patrik is very hard-working and ambitious, and always good for competition. He never gives up and works passionately to reach his goals. He is part of a team with three more members and knows how to cheer the group up with his funny stories. In addition to track and field, he also plays ice hockey in a club and is a valuable player in the PSV football team. This summer, Patrik returns to his home country Finland, and we wish him all the best in his sporting career.”
