What Students and Parents Say

Dear Peter,I wanted to share some wonderful news with you personally: Alessandro has been admitted to study Medicine at LMU Munich. This is a truly incredible achievement for him, and one that makes us enormously proud. Admission to Medicine in Germany is extremely competitive, and seeing him reach this goal after all his hard work and dedication is a very special moment for our family.I also wanted to share this news with you because I feel that the school can take some pride in it too. Both Giulia and Alessandro, who studied at ISR, have succeeded in gaining admission to study Medicine at two of Germany’s leading universities — Giulia at Charité in Berlin (she is already in her 4th year) and Alessandro at LMU Munich. As parents, we are incredibly grateful for the academic preparation they both received at the school. Their individual commitment and determination have, of course, been fundamental to their success, but we also recognise how much the school has contributed in giving them the knowledge, discipline and confidence to take on such a demanding path.To see both of them embarking on their medical studies at such outstanding universities is something very special for us, and I thought you would be happy to share in this moment. I hope it is also a source of pride for the school to see two of its students achieve this.Thank you for everything the school has done for them over the years. We will always be very grateful for the role it has played in their journey. Please extend our thank you to Alessandro's teachers. With warmest regards,

ISR is a very flexible and committed school. The students were not "abandoned" during the Corona shut down and did not miss a single school day, either at home by virtual class or attending the school personally. ISR always endeavors to make materials and teaching methods up to date and all teaching staff shows a high level of enthusiasm and professionalism. My son feels very comfortable at school and it makes us feel safe and privileged. A very good and recommendable school!

What Students and Parents Say

Dear ISR,I hope you are both well. I write to you to provide some feedback regarding our experience commencing with ISR since moving to Düsseldorf in March this year from Melbourne, Australia. I can not express enough the impact that ISR teachers and in particular Ms. Daisy, Ms. O, Ms. Brocheit, and Ms. Du Plessis have had on such an exemplary transition for our children over the past few months. We have witnessed both our children learning, growing, and becoming more confident and happy at school in such a short period of time. I would like to extend a very warm thank you to ISR and specifically these teachers for their care, time, energy, and above all their evident passion for teaching. It has made such a profound impact on our children and our family. The beginning of any relocation is challenging at the best of times, and ours would not have been so positive without their support. Many thanks,Family Kambouridis

What Students and Parents Say

We are a diplomatic family with two children. In my career, we have been sent to many countries and my children have attended various International Schools.  Upon my family’s arrival to Düsseldorf, my colleagues in the Consular corps agreed that ISR was the best choice for my son. Our son started ISR in Grade 11.  During his first few weeks, we realized that the teachers and University Counsellors are highly qualified and dedicated to each child and assists them on their way to further education. Our son chose difficult subjects for High Levels. He not only managed the subjects well but also enjoyed the lessons from his teachers. After three months, we decided to transfer our daughter, Mira Karaarslan from the French School in Düsseldorf to ISR as well.  We were worried about the transition, but the ISR team, especially Ms. Ghica made it smooth, easy, and as joyful as possible. Our daughter adopted into Grade 4 in just a few days, as if she had been there for years! There are so many wonderful things we could say about ISR. In short, amongst all the international schools we have experienced, ISR is much more than an ordinary International school!  During the current COVID-19 pandemic, ISR became the first school to start virtual classes and made every effort to finish the academic year without interruption.

We would like to say a BIG THANK for all the continuous DAILY support and for the individual solutions, that you always provide, especially during the difficult COVID time. We have a safe feeling at ISR.For 5 years we have been together with ISR. Because of the atmosphere at ISR, there has not been a single day when our children did not want to go to school. They love ISR and especially their motivated teachers, super coordinators, and great supervisors. The international community gives a lot of possibilities to learn about cultures, languages, and traditions of the world. We are sure it will be a big benefit for our children to live interesting lives and give them an advantage for future career plans. Our children speak German and Russian at home, English at school and they are learning Chinese at ISR! We are very pleased to have these opportunities.Thank you ISR!!

The International School at the Rhine has definitely been an incentive for us to extend our stay in Germany. The high standards maintained, combined with the individual attention to students are remarkable. Apart from the academic focus, students enrolled at ISR have the advantage of interacting with various cultures, which adds to their social and emotional development in a very positive manner. I also appreciate the school’s regular communication with parents. There is an open-door policy so it is easy to get to know the management and our children's teachers and coordinators. The school is friendly and has a warm, family feel. The children are strongly encouraged to be caring and considerate towards one another. Our children feel secure and totally at home at ISR. Parents are always welcome at ISR and are encouraged to volunteer in their children’s learning journey. The children get so excited when their parents show up to help out in the classroom or coordinate after-school activities. The Parent Network (PN) also allows parents to be involved in the planning and execution of the various celebrations and events at the school. We really enjoy being part of the ISR family and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great school. "You can be yourself and at the same time, be accepted in the community. Everyone is different but the school brings everyone together.

Dear Mr. Soliman,We wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for you and your family too! And we want to thank you for your open communication in the past, for being available and transparent at all times, and for how you and the ISR staff handle this challenging time.We feel very safe at ISR and are happy to be part of the ISR Community. We never had concerns to send our daughter Hannah to school. It was always a positive and good feeling and Hannah enjoys school at ISR so much! When my husband picked up Hannah from school on Friday, 18th December, she was almost crying, because she wouldn´t see Ms. du Plessis and her classmates for a while due to the holidays. So, we hope that the physical classes will be possible again soon. But for now, we are looking forward to the virtual classes starting tomorrow. We send you this positive feedback because it is important in a community to encourage and strengthen each other to do the right thing. And from our perspective, you are doing the right thing.Take care and stay healthy!Kind regards

Dear Ms. Lyons and Mr. SolimanAs the end of the year approaches we would like to send a little note to express our gratitude towards the ISR team and especially towards some key elements that make ISR shine. As we are all struggling to make our daily life normal in a not-so-normal time, it was a big relief to all of us to have the full support of ISR to sustain our children and to make them feel secure and normal during this pandemic period.  We have to say as a family that we are impressed by how ISR guided the full community of children and parents and others.Ms. Ghica, Ms. Morris, and Mr. Bernard deserve the "moon and the stars" award: they have supported each one of us in so many ways, academically, personally, and emotionally. Let’s not forget all of these teachers have families to care for, but they added the ISR family to their personal care.Mr. Bernard talking in one of his virtual classes to the Grade 4 class said "well kids be safe and remember here at ISR we miss you all very much." I was near and was able to hear his words to his classroom: they were coming from his heart and from the answer of all the kids to him, I couldn’t hold myself and started to cry: it was a very emotional moment. To see how the virtual classes are held is very impressive: the children are fully engaged with the teachers in their classes, Mrs. Ghica gives rich advice to our children and encourages them to be the best and do their best. To see Mr. Morris finding solutions for all little glitches or bigger concerns we had in second grade was equally impressive. Our feeling is that these teachers give their hearts to us, to all of us, and to all of our families! To all other teachers I didn’t mention here we are grateful to all of you because each of you has "held our hands" during this difficult time and for that we say; thank you ISR!Kind Regards

Dear Mr. Soliman,One of the reasons I am writing this email to you is that my son Jinren passed 2 exams. He passed the Preliminary English Test (PET) in December 2023 with an overall score of 164 and the First Certificate in English (FCE) in March 2024 with an overall score of 178. Both achievements have shown that he has reached CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level B2. This good performance could give him more chances to be accepted by a famous middle school (grades 7 to 9) in Beijing. The background is that Jinren took the tests with almost no preparation except for some sample exams. Over the past few months, he has been working hard to catch up on his Chinese. His English courses at school are suitable for beginners. So, it's very clear that ISR has given him a very solid foundation for English. My family and I really appreciate that.To quote your website, "We always strive for the highest standards in terms of values, behavior, and ultimately academic achievement." Jinren's experience is a small confirmation of that.I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to you and all colleagues at ISR.

Dear Mr. Soliman,Thank you for your message.I would like to sincerely thank you and the school leadership — my experience at ISR has been incredibly positive. I’ve felt well supported by my teachers, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow both academically and personally. Being trusted with a meaningful initiative like the Carbon Footprint Project is something I’ll always appreciate.Additionally, there have been a few teachers who made my time at ISR especially memorable:● Madame Chanal (Grade 8 French Teacher) has been a tremendous motivation for me to improve in French. Thanks to her dedication and support, I achieved a 97/100 on the DELF A1 exam. She always took the time to help me and my classmates prepare, and she is my favorite teacher at ISR.● Mr. Davis (English Teacher) is friendly, humorous, and always eager to share both knowledge and personal experiences. He helped me significantly improve my writing compared to the previous year.● Mr. Nisic (Math Teacher) makes math fun and engaging. His passion for teaching, use of AI tools, and clever tricks make time fly in his class. As someone who loves math, I really enjoyed learning from him.● Mr. Gottlin (Environmental Club Teacher) played a key role in supporting the Carbon Footprint Project. He is kind, patient, and always ready to help — whether it’s with science or club work. Even though he wasn’t my science teacher, I often approached him with questions, and he was always encouraging and helpful.● Ms. McLeod (Former Head of Middle School) was a tremendous support for me when I first joined ISR. She played a key role in helping me adjust to my new environment, and her guidance made my transition much smoother. I always felt that I could turn to her whenever I needed help or encouragement. Her support truly helped me grow and improve, both personally and academically.Last but not the least, thank you, Mr. Soliman and Ms. Lacagnina, for your support with the Carbon Footprint Project. As I mentioned earlier, this was the first big project of my life, and I learned a lot from it.Thank you again for all your support and for creating an environment where students like me are encouraged to explore big ideas.Kind regards,Darshan Girish KumarGrade 8AISR Environmental Club
