Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Nala

Spotlight On Our Student Nala
This week, we spotlight our third-grader Nala, who has been a part of ISR since kindergarten. Nala truly embodies sunshine with her friendly and helpful personality. During lessons, she shows great enthusiasm and impresses not only with her charming nature but also academically. “She has shown remarkable academic improvement over the past few months. Her sweet smile brightens up the room!” remarks Ms. Ewing, her teacher. Ms. Lorenzen, her German teacher, adds “Nala was in my grade 1 class and I was so excited to see her come back to ISR last year. She is a true ray of sunshine with a big heart for her friends and teachers. She is very creative, caring and loving and I’m very proud of her for all her achievements. Moving into grade 4 she will continue to grow and learn and we will see even more amazing things from her. “
For a brief period, Nala temporarily left ISR, and there was immense joy on her return. Supervisor Mr. Mo also remembers the moment. “Everyone was thrilled to have Nala back with our ISR Family.” Ms. Morris, Head of Curriculum Development in the Primary School, expresses her admiration for Nala, saying, “Nala is an incredible student and a delight to have at ISR. I’ve known her since grade 1, and she has grown immensely over the past two years. Nala is exceptionally friendly and compassionate, always caring for others. She possesses a creative mind and actively participates in the classroom. Nala exemplifies our motto, ‘It is cool to be good!'”
We are very proud to spotlight Nala, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Spotlight On Our Student Arda
This week, we spotlight our eighth-grader Arda, who joined ISR in Grade 3. Arda is a helpful student who has developed very positively during his time at ISR, as Supervisor Mr. Mohammed confirms. In addition, he is an energetic student, who is always interested in sharing experiences with his classmates and teachers. Arda is always smiling and has a great sense of humor. During his breaks, he loves playing volleyball at our beach volleyball court and enjoys his time with his classmates. His math teacher, Mr. Nisic, says about him, “I’m delighted that we put the spotlight on Arda, a remarkable student who shines in so many ways! Arda’s zest for learning and ability to connect with others make him an invaluable asset to our classroom community. He is usually one step ahead when it comes to learning new materials. But, beyond his great math skills, Arda’s vibrant personality and insatiable curiosity draw a crowd wherever he goes!”
Also, his teacher Mr. Lillywhite is fascinated by his love of learning. “Arda has a refreshing enthusiasm and love of learning that instills his classes with positivity. He is a diligent worker who often goes over and above the requirements for the class and shows the promise of a top-tier performer. His interest in academics and inquisitive personality make him a joy to teach and a positive force in the classroom.” Currently, Arda is in his last year of middle school. Ms. McLeod, head of the middle school at ISR, is also convinced that his success story will continue in the upper school. “I have had the pleasure of getting to know Arda during his four years in middle school. He has made momentous progress and development and has become a very mature young man. I am sure that he will find success in Upper School next year, as he has already formed the foundation of a hard-working & dedicated student.”
We are very proud to spotlight Arda, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Spotlight On Our Student Kristina
This week, we spotlight our twelfth-grader Kristina, who joined ISR in kindergarten. Kristina is already part of the ISR Family for almost twelve years and will graduate this school year. Through her journey at ISR, there are many beautiful memories to recall and mutual appreciation with her teachers. “Kristina has always been a pleasure to teach, and it has been wonderful to see her develop and grow over her time at ISR. As her English teacher, I was always impressed with her writing and analytical skills and her ability to think critically and above all independently. Kristina is curious, thoughtful, and empathic and takes on responsibility with a smile.”, as Ms. Leach says. Mr. Bates adds, “Kristina has been an absolute pleasure to teach. She is always willing to help and I know that I can completely rely on her for any assistance that I need. In class, I am always trying to catch her out: When I think she is not listening, I jump to quiz her on what I have just been talking about and, unfortunately, she always knows! (I have never won that game) Kristina is a very good listener – a very good multitasker, and she is a charming, dedicated student who is confidently making her own path. I wish her all the luck in the future.”
Mr. Lillywhite knows her since grade 8 and describes her as an outstanding student. “She is always considerate of her peers and devoted to academic improvement. Her growth and maturity as a person over the last few years is commendable; as is her independent spirit and drive to succeed.” Ms. Racheva, PE teacher at ISR, knows Kristina for incredibly 10 years. “She has grown up from a little girl to a beautiful, independent young lady. She always has a smile that makes your day and she is super kind and polite all the time. Kristina accepts all the responsibility both in and out of school and she is self-motivated and organizes her own time management. In addition, she is independent in decision-making and has become a lifelong learner. It was a privilege and honour to have her as my student and I’m excited to see what she will achieve in the future.”
We are very proud to spotlight Kristina, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Another Successful ISR Spring Festival
ISR International Spring Festival 2023
Saturday, 6 May 2023
What a wonderful Saturday we spent together at ISR this weekend for our annual ISR International Spring Festival; a celebration of our school community’s diversity, creativity, and commitment to excellence in education!
The campus was filled with laughter and joy as we welcomed over 1,000 guests on this glorious sunny day!
Our students presented many different projects that they have undertaken this year – from art to a student competition “The Art of Pi” and many more inspiring projects and activities for our visitors. Our teachers outdid themselves with hands-on activities that got students excited about their subjects, promoting learning and inspiring curiosity. Artificial Intelligence was also a significant theme this year and was featured in a variety of subjects to highlight the importance of technological literacy and innovation in today’s world.
In addition, a wide range of activities awaited the children in our schoolyard – from an impressive inflatable pirate ship and an obstacle course to pony rides, a lovingly designed stage program as well as an exciting scavenger hunt; there was a lot to see and explore!
Our student Jasmin led our guests through the varied program as Master of Ceremony and, together with her SLO® team, gave the children a special treat at the end when she handed out the raffle gifts.
Food was in abundance with an excellent selection provided by our parent network’s Taste of the World Buffet. Here visitors could taste local delights from all over the world, from Germany, Turkey, India, cuisine from the Mediterranean and Russian-speaking Communities, America, China, and Japan. Cold drinks, coffees and cookies were supplied by Broich Catering, and we had wonderful barista coffee from an Italian Coffee Bike.
Rounding out the beautiful event were our dedicated cooperation partners that we had the pleasure of welcoming on the day! We thank our partners for their time and visit on Saturday:
Ballet for girls, boys, & adults by Claudia Peltzer, Musicbox Oxana, RKM740, Amerika Haus NRW, Zweelo, Dr. Beate Jürgens & Partner Zahnärzte, PSV, Broich Catering, DEG, Lions Club Neuss Novaesia
and Melanie Osterried Photography for the amazing photos.
Events like the ISR International Spring Festival help us to strengthen our ties and build new connections at the same time. It is through such events that we can celebrate our shared values, traditions, and aspirations, and foster a sense of belonging and togetherness.
A thoroughly successful family event for all – and we’re already looking forward to our next community events at ISR!

During class, he is very engaged as Mr. O´Brian, his physics teacher, confirms, “Kaushal is a pleasure to teach. He is always engaged in his physics lessons, eager to learn as much as he can. He is polite, friendly, and good-natured.” Kaushal is not only engaged in class, he recently supported the ISR Marketing Department at an event. “It was a pleasure getting to know Kaushal and his friendly and positive attitude. He was a huge support and actively exchanged with the visitors.
