Construction progress of the new ISR Kindergarten in Niederkassel
Construction progress of the new ISR Kindergarten in Niederkassel
Tuesday, 28 April 2020
Some of our employees took a look at our new ISR Kindergarten building in Düsseldorf Niederkassel today. The construction work has progressed impressively in the last weeks and the building is looking fantastic! Our new Kindergarten families can expect a new and modern building flooded with space and light that will leave nothing to be desired!
In addition to our holistic learning and education concept, our new Kindergarten will have five large group rooms with direct access to the carefully designed playground. Another clue: all rooms have a play gallery where our little explorers can read, play, or relax!
We cannot wait for the opening in summer!
Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Daniel

Spotlight On Our Student Daniel
This week, we would like to spotlight our 10 graders Daniel, who joined ISR 10 years ago in Kindergarten! Daniel is a polite young man with a great sense of humor and his friends appreciate his positive energy. He is passionate about Art and Design, which can be seen in his history of SLO® Art courses, and his Current grade 10 projects.
His Art teacher Ms. Henebry says about him: “His Term 2 Art Final featured unique suggestions for using waste products to form a school bus stop and interactive elements for Area 2 in the playground. Daniel is not afraid to wear bold colors and designs and stand out from the masses. He is such a talented student!”.
Through his creative nature, Daniel often looks at things with different eyes than his classmates and gives refreshing input in class. His teacher Mr. Krönke says about Daniel, “When Daniel faces a challenge, he accepts it and does not give up and this is what I appreciate about him.”
We are very proud to spotlight Daniel, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!
Every Friday, our Student Spotlight Project aims to highlight one of our outstanding students who, in line with this year’s theme, is striving for “extraordinary achievements” on a daily basis. No matter if it is academic success, special commitment or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

Spotlight On Our Student Lorelies
Our spotlight this week is on our third grader, Lorelies, who has been part of the ISR community since Kindergarten. Lorelies, called Lori for short, is known for her friendliness and helpfulness, and is highly appreciated by her friends. She welcomes everyone with a smile on her face and her positive attitude is contagious. The welfare of her fellow human beings is extremely important to her and she always tries to support her friends and help in every way possible.
Her teacher, Mrs. Schmidt, describes Lori as a very conscientious and committed student, “Lori is an exemplary student and she shows this during the virtual lessons. She is always punctual at every session and welcomes us with her big smile. Lori is always very careful in her lessons and prepares for new lessons independently. There hasn’t been a day so far when she hasn’t had all the learning materials and was immediately ready to start teaching.”
Besides Lori’s excellent academic achievements, she is also very creative and loves to paint and draw. Her teacher confirms this and adds “Lori is working very hard on her progress and is incredibly artistically talented. Her color choices in our online art course are terrific and I would be delighted if her outstanding achievements were to be recognized even more through our Student Spotlight.”
We are very proud to spotlight Lori, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

In KG1A, Lena engages in all topics with enthusiasm, she is always ready to learn and ready to ask questions.
Apart from her outstanding academic development, Lena loves art, cooking and is always willing to help. She speaks English and also speaks Chinese and German too! She is outgoing and has many friends both in and out of the classroom. Her teacher Ms. Zahri says about her “She is polite, mature, and pleasant to be around. Spotlight On Our Student Atsuya
This week we would like to place the spotlight on our new student Atsuya, who started in Grade 5 this week. He starts in unusual circumstances, as he had gone straight into virtual classes and has not met any classmates in person so far! As the schools will be closed until April 19th, we are happy to introduce him to our school community in our Spotlight today.
Atsuya is from Tokyo, in his free time likes playing gaming and his favorite subject is Science. He is really excited about online quiz competition in German classes and right now he is getting used to his virtual lessons. We are sure that he will see a lot of progress very soon. Ms. Walsh, his English teacher, gives her first impressions of Atsuya ”He is patient and brave for jumping into a virtual English class. He has made some immediate connections with other Japanese students who have been able to help him. So far he is quiet but is clearly able to follow what is going on and is increasing his comprehension quickly. He is also participating when asked to do so”.
We are happy to welcome Atsuya at ISR and hope that we can do this in person soon.
We are proud to spotlight Atsuya, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!
