Turkish Children's Festival at ISR
Turkish International Children’s Festival at ISR
Friday, April 26th 2024
Last Friday, our Turkish Community organized another successful Children’s Festival at ISR, which was well attended by many children and parents. We were privileged to extend a warm welcome to our esteemed guests, Turkish Consul General Mr. Ali Ihsan Izbul, and Turkish Educational Attaché, Mrs. Gamze Bozgöz, who joined us at this wonderful event. Attendees enjoyed several lively stage performances and indulged in an authentic Turkish buffet, which offered many Turkish delicacies. The children were invited to play outside in a bouncy castle and have their faces painted by our dedicated SLC student volunteers. Another exciting highlight was the on-site raffle, offering children the chance to win many fun prizes.
We extend our gratitude to the Turkish community for organizing this memorable event, which once again brought our ISR Family closer together! Furthermore, we wish to thank Consul General Mr. Ali Ihsan Izbul and Educational Attaché, Mrs. Gamze Bozgöz for taking their time to be a part of this year’s Turkish Children’s Festival.

Spotlight On Our Student Lara
This week, we are proud to spotlight our tenth-grader Lara.
Lara joined ISR in 2018 and is well liked by both her teachers and fellow students. She is a diligent student who works well in teams and gives back to the community.
Her music teacher, Mr. Perez, says, “Lara is the type of student that makes you love your job as a teacher. She challenges you to do your best because she always wants to learn more and more, but at the same time it is so enjoyable to teach her because she takes her responsibilities seriously and does her part as a student. But beyond that, she is a good classmate always willing to collaborate in whatever is possible. She is organised, hardworking, efficient, team-player, respectful, calm, brilliant. An amazing ambassador of the ISR Community!”
Lara was nominated for the Spotlight by Ms. Hautz who says, “Lara is a quiet student but works hard thoroughly in and out of the classroom. She is a caring and thoughtful student. She gives piano concerts at school and at elderly homes.”
Ms. Przybylski, who was Lara’s first German teacher when she started at ISR has this to say about her, “Ever since her first day at ISR, Lara has always been noted for her outstanding academic skills and strong determination. Despite her quiet nature, Lara’s dedication and talent shine through her excellent grades. She’s always respectful and polite, hard-working, and enthusiastic, making her a role model for other students. With her quiet confidence and commitment to learning, Lara inspires us all to do our best.”
We are proud to spotlight Lara, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

We had the pleasure to host our annual Arts Evening last Thursday, where our students in Middle and Upper school entertained the audience with wonderful musical performances featuring piano, bassoon, violin, saxophone, tuba, and lots more. There was also a variety of theatre and traditional dance and music performances, as well as a visual art display of works created by our students in Middle and Upper school. A huge thank you goes out to all the performers and our staff members who organized the event and prepared the students so well for their performances; notably Abner Perez, Stephanie Bucher, Sarah Ewing, Johanna Henebry, Simona Schultz, Schelaine Bennet, and Oxana Koppers. We wish to thank our guests who join us for our Arts Evening – you were an amazingly appreciative audience. It was a most memorable evening, and we hope that all our guests and performers enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

As part of the Eid al-Fitr/Ramazan Bayramı Celebrations, our dedicated Muslim Community at ISR got together and organized a special surprise for our students last Friday. The Community gathered in our Entrance Hall and greeted our students warmly after school by handing out sweets to share the tradition with our international community. During the traditional festivities, families gather to share traditional foods among friends and relatives to celebrate Eid al-Fitr/Ramazan Bayramı.
Sharing this celebration with our community has become a cherished tradition at ISR and we sincerely thank our dedicated students and their families for their efforts and organization. At ISR, we are proud of our international community and appreciate the opportunity to participate in and honor the many traditions of our families that they cherish from all over the world!
