ISR Winter Wonderland 2023

ISR Winter Wonderland

Friday, 15 December 2023

This week, we hosted our ISR Winter Wonderland at our campus in Neuss! For this event, we set up six different huts outside in front of our cafeteria, and our entire ISR Family gathered to enjoy delicious food and beverages, creating a delightful afternoon at ISR in a festive atmosphere! In addition to the huts, we also had a carousel on-site where children could enjoy a ride.

Furthermore, various musical performances took place, featuring our SEA Middle School Choir and our KStarter, KG1, and KG2 children, accompanying our festive ISR Winter Wonderland on three different days with many Christmas songs!

We extend our gratitude to our dedicated ISR Parent Network, our SLC, CAS and MUN students, our valued partners – Broich Catering, the American International Women’s Club, as well as the Lions Club – and the parents for their commitment to making this year’s ISR Winter Wonderland a huge success!

We’re already looking forward to our ISR Winter Wonderland 2024!

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Felix

Spotlight On Our Student Felix

This week, we spotlight our eleventh-grader Felix, who joined ISR in 2013. Felix has made great strides over the past few years, which his teachers have noted with enthusiasm. His former PE teacher, Ms. Racheva, noted: “I had the pleasure of teaching Physical Education to Felix from grades 3 to 9. He was a highly energetic and valuable player. Felix’s best quality is that he was a team player and played with true sportsmanship in our sports lessons. He is very humble and down-to-earth. Apart from sports, he is quite impressive in his studies as well. His caring nature and personality allow him to work well with others in a team setting, as he always respects others’ opinions even when they differ from his own. I am certain that Felix is going to continue to do great and creative things in his future.”

He is currently in his first year of the IB Diploma and is very keen to continue improving his academic performance. His teacher Mr. Kirk added,“Felix has been working studiously in his physics course to achieve great scores and understand key content. He also regularly helps his course mates by discussing key ideas and assisting in practical work.” Mr. Bates, Felix’s University and Career Counsellor, contributed, “I find Felix extremely focused, open-minded, playful, confident, and invested in his future. I thoroughly enjoy working with him and have no doubts that in the future he will be extremely successful. Good luck for the future, Felix!”.

We are very proud to spotlight Felix, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Today, we were delighted to extended a warm welcome to the Turkish Consul General in Düsseldorf, Mr. İzbul, during his visit to ISR.

The day began with a heartwarming welcome from Turkish Grade 1 students, who presented a self-made sign for the Consul General. The entire Management Team at ISR also extended a gracious welcome to our distinguished guest, setting the stage for a morning of connection and collaboration. The event was furthermore enriched by the presence of around 40 families from our Turkish Community at ISR, who came together to organize a delightful Turkish breakfast. Before the breakfast began, Mr. Soliman, Proprietor of ISR, extended words of welcome to the Consul General and our Turkish Community, emphasizing the strong cohesion and international spirit at ISR. “Cultural diversity highlights the uniqueness of ISR, as our families represent 60 different nationalities. We are very proud of our international ISR Community and teaching staff. Events like these provide valuable opportunities for our ISR Family to come together. The number of Turkish families has grown significantly in recent years and we highly value the cultural exchange and partnership with the T.C. Düsseldorf Başkonsolosluğu.”

Following the breakfast, two of our students, Berhan and Kerem, along with a member of our Admissions Team, Ms. Ljungqvist, had the privilege of guiding Consul General İzbul around our campus. They provided valuable insights into our educational approach at ISR, sharing the unique features that make our institution a place for fostering academic excellence and character development.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Consul General İzbul for taking the time to visit ISR and engage with our Turkish Community. As Mr. İzbul said in the beginning, “The partnership between Türkiye and North Rhine-Westphalia is not only significant but also strong, with education being a central element. Kindergarten and schools such as ISR in the Düsseldorf area make an important contribution due to their cultural diversity, and educating students to global thinking citizens.” His presence added a special touch to our multicultural environment, reaffirming the importance of international collaboration.

A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated Turkish Community and its representative, Ms. Kaya, who organized the get-together in such a special way for all to enjoy.

We look forward to continued exchanges and partnerships that enhance the global perspective within our ISR Community!
