Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Alisa-Fina
Spotlight On Our Student Alisa-Fina
This week, we would like to spotlight our shining KG star Alisa-Fina, who is especially known for her charismatic and humorous nature. Her Kindergarten teacher Ms. Kim has some very touching words that describe why we want to highlight her: “I have seldom met a three-year-old who is as charismatic and out-going as Alisa-Fina. She captures everyones attention with her sunny personality and contagious laugh. You will almost always catch her with a big smile on her face and even if not, her frown will disappear within seconds.
Alisa-Fina’s confidence is admirable. She walks through the ISR building as if she has never been anywhere else. She is always ready for a chat with anybody she meets. She is curious and loves to learn more about the world surrounding her. Alisa-Fina has become one of my sidekicks who is always ready to help. She takes any child who needs a friend under her wing and makes sure they are happy before moving on to her next adventure. Alisa-Fina is a joy to have as a student and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for her.”
We are very proud to spotlight Alisa-Fina, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

ISR For Charity: Students sew 250 masks for the St. Augustine Group
ISR For Charity: Students sew 250 masks for the St. Augustine Group
Two weeks ago our partner, the Rotary Club of Neuss, made us aware that the the St. Augustinus Gruppe Neuss was looking for self-made masks for their numerous health and care facilities. Various families as well as our Grade 11 CAS students saw this as a fantastic opportunity to help out and sewed hundreds of masks for those in need!
Last Wednesday, we successfully collected an impressive amount of 250 self-made masks and handed them over to the St. Augustine Group. Max, one of the students who chose this project as part of his CAS program and sewed 100 masks in ISR colors, along with our CAS coordinator, Andre Urban, handed over the donation to Ms. Souli and Mr. Richter, one of the Directors of the St. Augustine group. To round off the donation, ISR additionally added 300 disposable masks. All these masks will be now given to homes for the elderly and facilities for people with disabilities.
We are very happy that so many ISR students have participated in the project and that the school community has once again shown such strong cohesion!

Juliette is an enthusiastic learner who tries no matter the content, likes to participate in class and offer as much insight as much as possible. She is a really kind young lady and a thoughtful student. Her German teacher, Mr. Krönke, said about her, “without Juliette, my German classes would certainly be a lot more boring. This is due to her interesting and unconventional way of approaching things.
“All in all, she is a very keen student whose energy is quite infectious. She has no trouble speaking her mind and gives shyness no chance. I hope that she keeps her cheerful personality.” Her former kindergarten teacher still remembers her well and adds, “Juliette was one of the stars of my KG2 classroom. She was a friendly and sweet child and a joy to have around!”
We are very proud to spotlight Juliette, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Spotlight On Our Student Yusuf
This week, we would like to spotlight our Grade 11 student Yusuf, who joined ISR way back in Grade 2. Yusuf is a very courteous student who is always very friendly and helpful to his fellow students. He is a very good and versatile conversationalist, so you can talk to him about anything. Yusuf is a very dedicated student and besides the demanding IB program he is actively involved in the CAS projects Big Brother and History Bowl.
His CAS teacher Mr. Urban describes Yusuf as a Big Brother during the CAS project with the words, “He is a super Big Brother for Davud from Grade 2, an Azerbaijani student who has been attending ISR since this year. The two meet to play football or basketball or just to talk and have fun.” Also, his History teacher, Mr. McGee, finds a few words to describe his role in the CAS project History Club: “Yusuf has been a motivated and hardworking History student since I first had him in class in Grade 9. He was one of the early members of the new History Club, re-formed in 2017 at ISR, and this year he has helped lead a major expansion of the group.
“As a CAS project, he prepares Grade 9 students for international competitions in weekly quiz projects designed around the International History Bowl and Bee format. He also took the initiative, along with other CAS classmates, to organize the first intra-school competition at ISR in which students were able to show off their Historical knowledge and the winning team competed against a super-team of teachers.”
