Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Nadeen

This week, we spotlight our engaged tenth-grader Nadeen, who joined ISR in grade 4. Nadeen is a very dedicated student who not only does her best in academics, but is also actively involved in the school day as part of her role as Deputy Head of Sport in our SLO organization. “She has not only taken on a serious SLO leadership role for the Sports Department this school year but has overall demonstrated initiative while looking for new ways to get involved. During the International Spring Festival event at ISR, she cooperated consistently with teachers and other students, showing her involvement in school community projects. She basically led the entire event from the student’s side on her own, and her efforts were nothing short of commendable,” her Student Life Coordinator, Ms. Bezuidenhout, adds.

Academically, Nadeen is very inquisitive and determined. She has found a wonderful balance to parallel her responsibilities in the SLO department as well as academic assignments with flying colors. She already shows great leadership as well as organizational qualities.  We are already looking forward to seeing how things will continue to develop at ISR and are convinced that she will achieve greatness in her school and professional career.

This week, we spotlight our second-grader Aanya, who joined ISR this academic school year. Since she started at ISR, she has had a smile on her face and stands out for her kindness. Aanya is a diligent student who works hard in the classroom, and supports her friends in any possible way. During class, she is always very engaged and her music teacher, Ms. Bucher, confirms, that Aanya always gives her best in every music lesson. “Aanya brightens up every music lesson with her beautiful attitude!

Aanya has been able to settle in quickly at ISR and convince the whole ISR community of her abilities. “Aanya is an exceptionally kind, caring, and thoughtful member of 2D. She is always on hand to help others around our classroom who are struggling. Not only that, Aanya gives her all into each and every lesson we complete. She participates wonderfully and thoroughly enjoys the learning process! She is fantastic!” her teacher Ms. Hargrave adds.

This week, we spotlight our first-grade student Irem, who joined ISR in Kindergarten. Irem is a wonderful student who always has a smile on her face. She is a kind and caring child who cares deeply for others and always lends a helping hand to a friend in need. Ms. Morris, Academic Head for grades 1 and 2 adds, “ Irem is a great role model for her classmates at ISR!”

Irem is a friendly student who always has a smile on her face. Her strong personality makes her to a confident young student. Her teacher, Ms. Broscheit, says about her, ”Irem absolutely loves listening to stories. She often shares her thoughts and ideas that relate to the stories we read together. Irem has a great sense of humor and can often be seen giggling in the classroom. If you are ever in need of some cheering up, being in her company will most definitely fix that.” We are already looking forward to seeing how Irem will continue to develop at ISR.

This week, we spotlight our eighth-grader Yixi, who joined ISR in 2019. Yixi, also known by her nickname Eileen, is a dedicated student who excels in class, especially in her ambition and diligence. She is a helpful student and is always known for her friendly personality. In the academic field, Yixi shows much success and always does her best to achieve her goals.

Ms. McLeod, Head of ISR Middle School, adds “Eileen is one of ISR’s outstanding students who has almost finished her time in Middle School. She will undoubtedly continue to excel in her academic endeavors in the future. Eileen always has a smile on her face and is a wonderful part of the ISR community. She recently placed in the top 5% worldwide in the AMC Maths Competition which tests students from around the globe on topics from the Grade 8 Maths curriculum. Congratulations to Eileen!“

This week, we spotlight our first-grader May, who joined ISR in kindergarten 4 years ago. May stands out above all as a very hardworking and friendly student, who is also very helpful. During her time at ISR, she has excelled at developing, and her Grade 1 teacher, Ms. Broscheit adds “May is an all-round dedicated learner in my Grade 1 classroom. She works extremely hard and produces the most pleasing work, she is most happy when she has time to be creative. May shows great empathy and compassion for all that know her. She is a kind and caring girl who has a big heart filled with so much love. All who know her or get to know her feel her warmth that she radiates from within. She is incredibly thoughtful and shows it in many various ways. She is often seen giving those around her special treasures. It has been such a pleasure to have her with me this year in Grade 1.”

Not only her class teacher is enthusiastic about her, also her German teacher as well as her sports teacher. Both find her to be an extremely helpful and ambitious student who listens attentively to assignments and does her best to implement them. “May is a sports star – she is doing an excellent job!”, adds Mr. Baumann.

This week, we spotlight our third-grade student Felix, who joined ISR in kindergarten. Felix is a fun and kind- natured student who has developed so well throughout his time at ISR. He is very confident and is always eager to learn in class. His teacher, Mr. Elsey, says about him “Every day is always entertaining with Felix around. He works very hard through all lessons, and is enthusiastic about all subjects. He also brings a wealth of knowledge to the class when discussing different topics. He is a joy to have in grade 3D!”

Felix has a great sense of humor, and he loves playing football and kicker ball with his friends. He has a passion for playing sports and games, and loves to spend time with friends. His music teacher Ms. Bucher adds “ Felix is a ray of sunshine. He holds himself to a high standard and takes pride in his work — striving to be his best. He is always eager to help.”

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Eliza

This week, we spotlight our third-grader Eliza, who joined ISR in grade 1. She is an enthusiastic and very helpful student. Eliza is also characterized by her creative and funny nature and shows lots of empathy. For her, it is important that the people around her feel comfortable and good. In the academic area, she is very determined and actively participates in class. Eliza loves to share her knowledge with her class and support her classmates. She has a very good sense of humor and loves to make people laugh. She also loves to spend time with her friends or with her multifaceted hobbies. Eliza is extremely athletic and is passionate about playing field hockey in her free time. In addition, she successfully takes ballet lessons and learns to play the piano.

Her music teacher, Ms. Bucher, adds “Eliza is a kid who knows how to have fun and loves a good joke. But she also always knows where the line is and when it’s time to be serious.  Eliza has a broad range of skills and knowledge, and she uses them to elaborate or discussions in class and enhance the learning experience for us all. She was also one of our winter concert hosts this year. She practiced her lines and presented the program expressively and charmingly!”

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Gioya

This week, we spotlight our ninth-grader Gioya, who joined ISR in Kindergarten. Gioya stands out for her friendliness and helpfulness and has developed a lot during her time at ISR. She is active in the ISR SLOⓇ Department as a Prefect and shows lots of engagement in her role. “Gioya has stepped up to the plate this year, taking the role of ISR radio presenter head-on. For many students, this role is a daunting one, but Gioya is committed to doing her best and is succeeding in her announcements. Through this, she has shown that she is reliable and responsible and sharing important information with the whole school is essential. She is kind and cooperates consistently with teachers and her SLOⓇ teammates. We hope that she will continue to thrive in her prefect role.”, says Ms. Bezuidenhout, ISR Student Life Coordinator.

Gioya is not only convincing in the Student Life Organization but also in the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. Her teacher, Ms. Mitchell, considers her an excellent student in both subjects. In addition to her academic success, she and seven other ISR students competed in a television show last year. There, the students, along with another school, won against well-known faces from German television and proved themselves in various knowledge questions as well as sports activities. Together they not only represented ISR in the best possible way but also showed courage by participating in this television show. Gioya showed self-confidence and proved a strong character, true to our motto: We Enable Great Minds and Strong Characters.

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Elisabeth

This week, we spotlight our eleven-grader Elisabeth, who joined ISR this academic year. Elisabeth stands out as a very friendly and determined student who is involved in the ISR school community and works hard for her excellent academic achievements. In her CAS classes, she participates in the Big Brother/Big Sister project and supports younger students in the role of a big sister in everyday school life. In doing so, she demonstrates a great sense of duty and impresses with her endearing character.

Elisabeth recently won third place in the Niederrhein regional round of the Jugend forscht competition! Jugend forscht is Germany’s forefront science project competition for school students. Her performance was incredibly impressive an opinion shared by her Science teacher Mr. O’Brian “Elisabeth entered the Jugend forscht science competition this year and by doing so became ISR’s first-ever entry. She picked up an impressive third place prize in the regional round for her investigation of the dispersal characteristics of sycamore seeds. She has greatly impressed me with her positive work ethic, maturity, and independence. Congratulations Elisabeth.“ The whole ISR community is impressed by her achievements and also her Geography teacher Mr. Bates is convinced of her, “In Geography, Elisabeth is always attentive, thoughtful, and considerate. She deserves being spotlighted“.

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Apoorv

This week, we spotlight our eleven-grader Apoorv, who joined ISR in 2016. Apoorv is currently in Year 1 of the IB Diploma Program and after graduation, he wants to study Engineering or Data Science in the UK or the Netherlands. During the time-intensive preparations in his IB program, Apoorv keeps his stress low by creating a regular study schedule to monitor his progress in his subjects. His work both inside and outside the classroom has made him a top-performing student in Maths, Physics, Computer Science, and Economics. ”We are especially excited about his research on negative externalities of pollution in Economics to complete his Extended Essay. We wish him luck in Year 2 to reach his university aims!” as his Academic Head, Ms. McGee adds.

Apoorv has a friendly and polite nature, and he is a student who completes his tasks with conscientiousness. This is also reflected in Computer Science as he not only shows analytical skills but also works very well and actively participates in lessons. Apoorv is also convincing in physics classes, and not only with his academic achievements but also with his excellent sense of humor, “I started teaching Apoorv for the first time this year. He is a keen and talented physics student with a good sense of humor. He is polite and good-natured and is self-motivated to do well in his studies,” says his Science teacher, Mr. O´Brian.
