2. Multilingual world citizens
With English as the language of instruction, ISR students gain an advantage in global competition. The goal of using English as the official language is to make sure our students successfully complete their International Baccalaureate, which gives them access to top universities worldwide. In order to achieve maximum success, we offer a wide range of courses that meet the different requirements and that together achieve the goal of turning students into multilingual and self-confident world citizens. Currently, 1,000 children from a total of 60 nations attend ISR. We value cultural diversity and we believe it enriches and strengthens the ISR community.
3. 100% class coverage
Thanks to a structured system of substitute teachers, ISR always guarantees a continuous education. In recent years, the school has made large investments in highly qualified teachers from around the world. On average, there is one teacher for every six students, which ensures individual and continuous educational support. Through weekly learning success measurements, parents, and students can consistently see if the set goals are reached. If a deficit is noticed, the school can immediately react and if needed offer free tutoring in the form of “booster lessons“. We pride ourselves by not letting our students fail.
Even during the kindergarten and school closures due to COVID-19, we were able to guarantee continuous curriculum instruction at all times through virtual lessons for all our students from kindergarten to grade 12. In this way, we ensured seamless educational continuance so that our students would never have to miss a class. It was of paramount importance to us to provide some sense of normalcy for our students and as a result, they largely went unaffected in terms of their schooling.

4. Academic Excellence – International Baccalaureate
International accredited degrees at ISR include the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the ISR High School Diploma. The IB degree, recognized as a “general qualification for university entrance” or “Allgemeine Hochschulreife” in German, opens doors to top universities worldwide. For the last years, ISR graduates have achieved an above-average IB score.
18 percent of this school year achieved at least 40 out of a maximum of 45 points. This is normally only achieved by around three percent of IBDP graduates worldwide. In addition, 7 percent of the students in this school year’s ISR graduating class achieved an exceptionally outstanding IB score of 42 or more points. One student who will now begin her studies at the prestigious University of Cambridge has successfully completed her IB with an outstanding score of 44 out of 45 possible points. On average, our graduates have received an impressive total of four University Offers around the globe. While some offers are still pending, these spots are offered from world-renowned universities on 4 different continents such as: Cambridge University, Imperial College, King’s College London, University College London, the University of Manchester, Warwick University, Boston University, the University of Michigan and the University of Southern California (USC), Erasmus University of Rotterdam, TU Eindhoven, TU Delft, TU Munich, RWTH Aachen, University of Hong Kong (HKU), Hong Kong University – just to name a few!
We have an outstanding track record qualifying ISR students for studies at universities in Germany. In the past years, almost all of our students who wished to study at a German university met the prerequisites to do so. To qualify for study at a German university with the IB Diploma, the Kultusminister Konferenz (KMK is the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs) has defined the relevant criteria for recognition of the IB Diploma. This information can be found here.
In addition, ISR signed an agreement to offer the additional module in vector calculus to complement and extend our IB Mathematics Standard Level (SL) course. This addition enables ISR students with the IB Standard Level Mathematic course to access German university technical studies, such as Mathematics, Engineering, and Natural Sciences. Students who completed ISR´s Mathematics High Level (HL) course are not required to take this additional course.
ISR signed the vector course amendment with the IBO and the German authority in May 2021, so that ISR IB diploma graduates can benefit from this additional study and career opportunity.

6. Academic Excellence – IGCSE Results
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is regarded as the most important secondary exam in the UK. It has been held in nearly 1,500 schools in 120 countries worldwide for almost 30 years. In particular, British universities look carefully at the IGCSE results of a student when considering an offer.
The achievements at the end of the 10th grade indicate whether a student is up to the requirements of a further academic career. In addition, IGCSE exams help students make their decisions about their choice of subjects. Students usually complete IGCSE exams in eight to fifteen subjects. The grades range from A * for the best grade to G, or U for an unremarkable performance. The IGCSE is recognized by academic institutions and employers worldwide and we, even if optional, place great emphasis on these exams. Therefore, we are very proud that our students have shown amazing results over the last years. This school year, an overwhelming 60% of our students scored A or even A * and 25% of our students received a grade B.
7. University and Career Counselling
ISR prides itself on preparing students for life beyond ISR. Three full-time staff members are available to meet with students and their parents to make sure the appropriate course choices as Upper School students begin the path to university. In addition to in-school counseling, our University and Career Counselling (UCC) team also visit universities around the world with our students to help them get an on-the-spot impression. Likewise, the team organizes various in-house university fairs, where students can meet and interact with university representatives from around the world. We also strongly believe in internships as one of the best ways for students to get a real life impression of career options. We work hard to ensure that interested students find a suitable placement.

8. Character Building
Our goal is not only to purposefully improve intellectual skills but also to strengthen the character values of all our students. ISR Students are given opportunities to learn organizational and leadership skills through our ISR Student Leadership Council. The students learn these skills as they participate in running this student society. Just as in any “real-world” organization, students in the ISR Student Leadership Council work their way up the hierarchy by proving themselves capable at the lower levels of the organization. We feel that it is because of these positive formative experiences in SLC, ISR graduates go on to become responsible leaders in their families, communities, workplaces, and countries.
In addition, we also put great importance on physical activities as well as musical education, in order to strengthen students’ character values through team spirit and a sense of community. Our modern 110,000 square meter campus in Neuss, includes several large playgrounds and outdoor areas for the children, a large sports hall, and the Neuss district sports facility (PSV) with a soccer field and a “track and field” facility. Other sports offered at the school include volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, horseback riding, swimming, and much more. There is also a school gym free of use for all the students.
And finally, in addition to the regular music classes, Musicbox Oxana offers on-campus music lessons for all age groups in order to further develop shared experiences and team spirit.
9. IT-supported Education
High-tech screens in classrooms, E-books, virtual reality goggles, 3D printers, and modern computer rooms provide an all-encompassing learning experience. In doing so, we emphasize that technology does not replace traditional learning materials, but complement them to reach an in-depth understanding of the subject at hand. For example, our students can use virtual reality goggles to explore ancient Rome in their history lesson or study the solar system in their physics lessons.
