2. Multilingual world citizens
With English as the language of instruction, ISR students gain an advantage in global competition. The goal of using English as the official language is to make sure our students successfully complete their International Baccalaureate, which gives them access to top universities worldwide. In order to achieve maximum success, we offer a wide range of courses that meet the different requirements and that together achieve the goal of turning students into multilingual and self-confident world citizens. Currently, more than 1,200 children from around 60 nationalities attend ISR. We value cultural diversity and we believe it enriches and strengthens the ISR Community.
3. 100% class coverage
Thanks to a structured system of substitute teachers, ISR always guarantees a continuous education. In recent years, the school has made large investments in highly qualified teachers from around the world. On average, there is one staff member for every six students (1:6), which ensures individual and continuous educational support. Through weekly learning success measurements, parents, and students can consistently see if the set goals are reached. If a deficit is noticed, the school can immediately react and if needed offer free tutoring in the form of “booster lessons“. We pride ourselves by not letting our students fail.
Even during the kindergarten and school closures due to COVID-19, we were able to guarantee continuous curriculum instruction at all times through virtual lessons for all our students from kindergarten to Grade 12. In this way, we ensured seamless educational continuance so that our students would never have to miss a class. It was of paramount importance to us to provide some sense of normalcy for our students and as a result, they largely went unaffected in terms of their schooling.

4. Academic Excellence – International Baccalaureate
International accredited degrees at ISR include the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the ISR High School Diploma. The IB degree, recognized as a “general qualification for university entrance” or “Allgemeine Hochschulreife” in German, opens doors to top universities worldwide. For the last years, ISR graduates have achieved an above-average IB score.
Academic excellence – along with the successful and fulfilling future it enables – lies at the very core of our mission as a leading college preparatory school.
We are especially thrilled that this year’s graduating class completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program with an outstanding average score of 36 points and a remarkable 100% pass rate!
Particularly impressive is that 83% of our graduates exceeded the current worldwide IB average of 30.8 points. In addition, 59% of the class earned the rigorous bilingual IB Diploma – achieving native-level proficiency in two languages. Thanks to these exceptional accomplishments, our graduates have received offers from some of the world’s most prestigious universities, highlighting the academic excellence and international recognition of ISR. Among the notable institutions are the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), King’s College London, University College London (UCL), and the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom; the University of California San Diego in the United States; Erasmus University Rotterdam and Maastricht University in the Netherlands; as well as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in China – just to name a few!
When it comes to preparing students for university study in Germany, ISR can look back on a remarkable track record: In recent years, all ISR graduates who wished to pursue their studies in Germany have met the relevant university admission requirements.
A distinctive feature of ISR is an additional module in vector mathematics. This module specifically complements our Standard Level mathematics courses and ensures that students at this level also meet the mathematical requirements for admission to technical and science-related degree programs at German universities. These include, among others, programs in mathematics, engineering, and the natural sciences.
Students who take mathematics at Higher Level (HL) already meet the relevant mathematical requirements for all fields of study at German universities as part of their regular IB Diploma Programme.
On the basis of the corresponding IBO recognition agreement, ISR therefore opens up additional study opportunities for its IB Diploma graduates and provides them with a high degree of flexibility when choosing their future academic path.
In this way, ISR creates an excellent foundation for an international academic future: with a globally recognized IB Diploma, a wide range of study opportunities abroad, and comprehensive access to German universities.

6. Academic Excellence – IGCSE Results
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), awarded by Cambridge, is one of the world’s most recognized qualifications for students at the end of Grade 10. It provides rigorous, internationally benchmarked preparation for the IB Diploma Programme and is valued by schools and universities around the globe. Although the exams are optional, we place great emphasis on them: the results at the end of Grade 10 show whether a student is ready for the demands of a further academic career and help guide subject choices for the Diploma years – giving our students a proven academic foundation and a competitive edge.
Our students’ achievements this year (2026) speak for themselves. With 45 candidates completing 205 examination entries, our students achieved:
- 66% of all grades at A*–A
- 94% at A*–B
- 100% at A*–C – every single entry at grade C or above!
- In total, an impressive 66 A* and 70 A grades
This success is not a one-off but part of a steady upward trend. In our IGCSE courses in German, English, Mathematics and the Sciences, the share of A*–A grades has grown year on year – from 50% in 2024 to 58% in 2025 and now 66% in 2026 – while A*–B grades rose from 75% to an impressive 94%.
In both 2024 and 2025, our students’ results were also well above the global averages (40% and 43% A*–A respectively), and we look forward to seeing this year’s international comparison when the global 2026 results are published in November!
7. University and Career Counseling
ISR prides itself on preparing students for life beyond ISR. Three full-time staff members are available to meet with students and their parents to make sure the appropriate course choices as Secondary School students begin the path to university. In addition to in-school counseling, our University and Career Counseling (UCC) team also visit universities around the world with our students to help them get an on-the-spot impression. Likewise, the team organizes various in-house university fairs, where students can meet and interact with university representatives from around the world. We also strongly believe in internships as one of the best ways for students to get a real life impression of career options. We work hard to ensure that interested students find a suitable placement.

8. Character Building
Our goal is not only to purposefully improve intellectual skills but also to strengthen the character values of all our students. ISR Students are given opportunities to learn organizational and leadership skills through our ISR Student Leadership Council. The students learn these skills as they participate in running this student society. Just as in any “real-world” organization, students in the ISR Student Leadership Council work their way up the hierarchy by proving themselves capable at the lower levels of the organization. We feel that it is because of these positive formative experiences in SLC, ISR graduates go on to become responsible leaders in their families, communities, workplaces, and countries.
In addition, we also put great importance on physical activities as well as musical education, in order to strengthen students’ character values through team spirit and a sense of community. Our modern 150,000 m² campus in Neuss, includes several large playgrounds and outdoor areas for the children, a large sports hall, and the Neuss district sports facility (PSV) with a soccer field and a “track and field” facility. Other sports offered at the school include volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, horseback riding, swimming, and much more. There is also a school gym free of use for all the students.
And finally, in addition to the regular music classes, Musicbox Oxana offers on-campus music lessons for all age groups in order to further develop shared experiences and team spirit.
9. IT-supported Education
High-tech screens in classrooms, E-books, virtual reality goggles, 3D printers, and modern computer rooms provide an all-encompassing learning experience. In doing so, we emphasize that technology does not replace traditional learning materials, but complement them to reach an in-depth understanding of the subject at hand. For example, our students can use virtual reality goggles to explore ancient Rome in their history lesson or study the solar system in their physics lessons.

11. School Bus
To best serve the needs of our students and to ensure the safe arrival of our students, we offer school bus transportation within a radius of 75 km. Students will be picked up and dropped off at designated collection points in areas close to their homes. ISR has started environmentally friendly transport of students in electric minibusses in cooperation with the Düsseldorf transport company Zweelo.

11. School Bus

12. In-House Library
ISR has its own library with over 25,000 books and a large collection of magazines and videos in many different languages. All students attend the library at least once per week to borrow books. Our younger students are obliged to borrow and read one German and one English book each week. There are also several computers for the students to use for research or the accelerated reading program where students can check their reading comprehension level. For our older students, there are study spaces available to use during the school day. All ISR families are also invited to come check out books during the Family Check-Out which takes place every Tuesday and Friday afternoon.
13. On-Campus Nurse
We have an on campus nurse that takes care of smaller injuries and who can determine whether a child is sick or not. The school nurse also keeps all parents informed if there are any illnesses going around school. She also provides guidance on how to keep your children from getting sick.

14. Spacious Campus
Our ISR Campus in Neuss spans an impressive 150,000 square meters, providing students with a wide range of opportunities to learn, grow, and develop their individual talents. In addition to the state-of-the-art school building, students have access to a three-court sports hall and several spacious school yards. The extensive outdoor areas include beach volleyball, basketball, and soccer fields, a large track and field facility, numerous tennis and padel courts, as well as an archery range. Various learning and recreation areas, green spaces, and specially designed outdoor activity zones further enrich campus life, offering plenty of opportunities for sports and collaborative learning.

About ISR International School on the Rhine
ISR International School on the Rhine is an English-speaking international school in Neuss, just minutes from Düsseldorf and Meerbusch. The campus brings together an international Kindergarten, the Elementary School (Grades 1–6) and the Secondary School (Grades 7–12). Further ISR kindergartens are located in Düsseldorf-Niederkassel and, with a German-language program, in Meerbusch-Büderich.
Students graduate with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, which is recognized in Germany and worldwide, or with the ISR High School Diploma, and ISR graduates regularly achieve IB results well above the worldwide average.
