Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Yuelin

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Yuelin
Friday, 27 May 2022
This week, we spotlight our ninth Grade Yuelin, who joined ISR last year. Yuelin is an intelligent, hardworking, and kind student who has a passion for science and social issues. She recently gave a presentation on a research project in class and her work not only met the standards of the assignment but exceeded them in a multitude of ways. In addition, she also proves her ability in art lessons and is an articulate and hardworking Art student. Her written and studio work are completed with great attention to detail.
In her year at ISR, she has already impressed many teachers with her academic achievements. Her history teacher, Mr. McGee, adds, “Yuelin is a delight to have in History class. She always projects quiet confidence in the classroom, and this is shown consistently in her work and her positive attitude. She classically leads by example, takes time and care with all of her assignments, and does not hesitate to ask questions when she is unsure. On top of all of that, she has the best handwriting in grade 9!”
We are very proud to spotlight Yuelin, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!
Every Friday, our Student Spotlight Project aims to highlight one of our outstanding students who represent our school motto, “we enable great minds and strong characters”. No matter if it is academic success, special commitment, or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

Happy Father's Day
Happy Father’s Day
Thursday, 26 May 2022
We have many fathers in our ISR community that their children look up to as fantastic role models. Fathers, today is your special day, and we sincerely wish you a pleasant Father’s Day!
As a token of appreciation and a special surprise, we have a short video message for you in which some of our students express how they feel about their fathers. We asked them “What makes your father special to you?” and the answers speak for themselves. It is clear to see that the relationship between a child and a father is something unique!
As we can see from the video, also for good reason!
Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Nadeen

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Nadeen
Friday, 20 May 2022
This week, we spotlight our engaged tenth-grader Nadeen, who joined ISR in grade 4. Nadeen is a very dedicated student who not only does her best in academics, but is also actively involved in the school day as part of her role as Deputy Head of Sport in our SLOⓇ organization. “She has not only taken on a serious SLOⓇ leadership role for the Sports Department this school year but has overall demonstrated initiative while looking for new ways to get involved. During the International Spring Festival event at ISR, she cooperated consistently with teachers and other students, showing her involvement in school community projects. She basically led the entire event from the student’s side on her own, and her efforts were nothing short of commendable,” her Student Life Coordinator, Ms. Bezuidenhout, adds.
Academically, Nadeen is very inquisitive and determined. She has found a wonderful balance to parallel her responsibilities in the SLOⓇ department as well as academic assignments with flying colors. She already shows great leadership as well as organizational qualities. We are already looking forward to seeing how things will continue to develop at ISR and are convinced that she will achieve greatness in her school and professional career.
We are very proud to spotlight Nadeen, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

ISR International Spring Festival – Celebrating cultural diversity and our unique community spirit
ISR International Spring Festival – Celebrating cultural diversity and our unique community spirit
Saturday, 14 May 2022
This weekend, the weather Gods looked favorably upon our ISR International Spring Festival 2022. Over 1,000 families and guests from all over the world came together for events, music, good food from many cultures, and fun activities – and the families were finally able to meet each other and their children’s teachers again on campus.
The festival was themed: “Many cultures – one global language: Education” where we celebrated the unique international community spirit at ISR. Guests could experience numerous highlights – including ponies, sports stations of our dedicated SLO® and sports department, as well as a comprehensive stage program consisting of musical performances, theater, and a raffle for the children. In addition, visitors were able to get a comprehensive picture of various student projects in the classrooms, and children were able to experience what it means to be part of ISR through hands-on activities. Last but not least, our international “Taste of the World” buffet, which was second to none, successfully rounded off the celebration. Families came dressed in typical national clothing, proudly representing their national food.
Our ISR partners from sports, theater, arts, music, and transport were represented with booths. Many of these partners have been loyal to ISR for over a decade – and we are sure to work together for another decade going forward.
We were so thankful that we could see families and visitors coming together again campus-wide. This successful celebration was due to the great support of our dedicated ISR Parent Network, our international community, faculty, staff, and our cooperation partners.
We are looking forward to future celebrations at ISR and are especially proud to be a part of our unique ISR Family – a community unlike none other .
We sincerely thank our talented Photographer Melanie Osterried.

Aanya is a diligent student who works hard in the classroom, and supports her friends in any possible way. During class, she is always very engaged and her music teacher, Ms. Bucher, confirms, that Aanya always gives her best in every music lesson. “Aanya brightens up every music lesson with her beautiful attitude!
Aanya has been able to settle in quickly at ISR and convince the whole ISR community of her abilities. “Aanya is an exceptionally kind, caring, and thoughtful member of 2D. She is always on hand to help others around our classroom who are struggling. Not only that, Aanya gives her all into each and every lesson we complete. She participates wonderfully and thoroughly enjoys the learning process! She is fantastic!” her teacher Ms. Hargrave adds.

ISR Students visited QIAGEN
ISR Students visited QIAGEN
Monday, 9 May 2022
End of April, eight Grade 11 biology students visited the QIAGEN laboratories in Düsseldorf. After a guided tour through the campus where they observed the working laboratories, they put on their lab coats and guided by Dr. Norbert Hochstein, Director of Research and Development at Qiagen, the students carried out a DNA extraction experiment. The latest in PCR testing equipment was on display and the students learned about how the process is becoming digitized, allowing for far faster test results.
The visit concluded with an inspiring career talk from a professional scientist, Dr. Julia Täubner, allowing the students an insight into the path taking to work for a leading provider of molecular diagnostic technologies.
We sincerely thank Qiagen for this enriching opportunity for our students!

Turkish International Children’s Festival at ISR
Monday, 8 May 2023
On Friday, in bright sunshine, our ISR families came together to celebrate the Turkish Children’s Festival 23 Nisan Çocuk Bayrami on campus after school.
A joyful festival awaited the children with many special highlights such as ponies, Turkish specialties, and an exciting stage program, which was ceremoniously opened by the Turkish Consul General in Düsseldorf, Mrs. Karaarslan. Also, our Deputy Director, Mr. Cete, did not miss the opportunity to open the festival on behalf of ISR with some greetings in Turkish. We wish to thank our Turkish community, which planned and carried out the festivities with a lot of dedication and commitment.
We were especially delighted to welcome so many families here on campus again and are grateful that our international ISR community could come together again in such a festive atmosphere!

Over 1,000 students and their families come together at ISR – from over 52 nations worldwide. Amongst us are so many amazing women who wish to offer their children love and security, and the best education for their child – for a happy and fulfilling future.
We are pleased to share with you the voices of a few children, whose responses reflect a very special and common refrain when asked the question: “What makes your mother so special to you?“
What an important role our mothers play and how they serve as our role models!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Students Visited MakerSpace
Students Visited MakerSpace
Friday, 6 May 2022
Shortly before the ISR Spring Break, a group of our Grade 11 Physics and Computer Science students visited the MakerSpace workshop at the Hochschule Niederrhein in Krefeld.
Each student was provided with the base components and with the instructions provided by the MakerSpace team to construct their very own wireless Bluetooth speaker to take home with them. The skills acquired by the students included soldering and circuit building. They learned more about the importance of designing the housing of a speaker to optimize the output sound energy.
A great experience for all involved and one that we are keen to repeat! We sincerely thank the Hochschule Niederrhein for organizing such an interesting and enriching workshop with a great learning outcome for our students!
