Spotlight On Our Student Leyra
This week, we spotlight our Kindergarten student Leyra who joined ISR last year and has never lived in Germany before. Last school year she worked hard and really has come out of her shell! She gets along with her classmates perfectly and is an open-minded young lady. She has a versatile character and her friends especially appreciate her friendliness and helpfulness.
Leyra is a good friend and loves spending time with her mates. During classes, she shows her creative side and always comes up with new ideas. Her Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Ramirez, says about her, “Leyra is a positive role model and happily plays with all her classmates. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to get to know her and her family. She is so special!”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Darya

Spotlight On Our Student Darya
This week, we spotlight our humble 11th grade student Darya, who joined ISR in grade 9. Darya is a very polite, self-reflected, and mature student who always gives her best academically and supports her friends. She never has a bad day in school and her performance is always top-notch.
She also is a brilliant supportive Big Sister to a student in grade 3, as part of her CAS project. Darya is ambitious, and she is also involved in the SLO® Discipline Department and supports the organization of several student events such as “Random Acts of Kindness Week” and the “Lock In”.
Darya is a bright, hardworking individual who feels strongly about helping others. She spends her time volunteering at a local elderly home, of which the residents are really grateful for. Darya is also involved in the collection of donations for children who suffered severe burns in Iran.
Beyond her fantastic social and academic skills, Darya is passionate about music and gives private fun guitar lessons to her classmates in her spare time. She is also a tennis player. Her teacher Mr. Krönke says this about her “Darya is humble and polite while at the same time being highly ambitious. She takes criticism to heart and tries to improve wherever she can. She is a good friend to her classmates and I am sure that a bright future awaits her”.

Spotlight On Our Student Samruddhi
This week, we spotlight our seven grade student Samruddhi who joined ISR in 2018. Samruddhi is a wonderful Grade 7 student who brightens her classroom environment with her positive attitude! Every single day, Samruddhi welcomes her classmates and teachers to her homeroom 7C with a smile! She is a hard-working student who strives for academic success.
Samruddhi has also been an ISR Ambassador for new students who visit ISR and then join her grade level, ensuring that they feel comfortable and at home in the ISR community. Samruddhi’s empathy towards others is very strong and that is one of the reasons why she is so special. She has a big heart and has always an open ear for her classmates. Her academic coordinator, Ms. McLeod says about her “She will be moving back to India this summer, and we are so sad to see her go! We wish her all the best at her new school and can’t wait to hear about her new adventure!”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Luis

Spotlight On Our Student Luis
This week, we spotlight our athletic eight-grader student Luis, who joined ISR in Grade 1. Luis has developed tremendously in the last year and shines with his very enthusiastic character. He has a strong sense of individuality and his mind is always working to further his talents and future pursuits.
His teacher, Mr. Makowy, describes Luis with the words “athletic, creative, intelligent and outgoing.” He also adds that Luis is one of the most unique individuals in his year group, “I look forward to seeing how he develops over the coming months and years.”
He is popular with his classmates and enjoys socializing with them. After school, he loves to play handball at a high level and trains almost daily, as well as spending hours on the road travelling to compete with his club. He is a very talented sportsman and at the same time very focused and concentrated. He is a wonderful example of the fact that you can achieve so much with a lot of hard work and training.

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Angelina

Spotlight On Our Student Angelina
This week, we spotlight our committed Grade 11 student Angelina, who has been part of our ISR Community since Kindergarten. Angelina’s academic achievements are outstanding and to recognize these she has received a letter of commendation from the Head of Upper School. She is always very focused and knows exactly what she would like to do in the future: after her graduation in 2021 she intends to study Business.
Angelina has a kind and lovely character, even in the mornings she is always in a good mood and likes to communicate with her classmates and teachers. She is a very open-minded young lady and socially engaged. That’s why she selected the organization “Wünschdirwas” as part of her CAS project to support them by collecting donations.
She is also very imaginative and has thought of various ways to support the organization. At school events, she was on site with an information stand or gave private Math lessons and donated her salary – more than 1000 EUR has already been collected!
We are very impressed by Angelina’s social and academic achievements and are sure that a bright future awaits her.

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Albert

Spotlight On Our Student Albert
This week, we would like to spotlight our humorous first Grader student Albert, who brought a lot of joy to his teachers and will be deeply missed as he is moving back to China. This smart young guy is incredibly hard-working and always willing to help other students as well as his teachers. He has a fabulous sense of humor and enjoys making other people laugh. He is also passionate about learning, loves to read and can frequently be seen “nose deep” in a book.
His German teacher, Ms. Lorenzen, says about him “Albert is one of the smartest students I’ve ever taught and I couldn’t imagine my German class without him. I am very sorry to see Albert leave ISR and wish him all the best in China.” His teacher, Ms. Stenning-Smith, also finds emotional words for him, “Albert has been an essential part of our first grade. It has been such a pleasure teaching Albert this year and we all will miss him.”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Vincent

Spotlight On Our Student Vincent
This week, we spotlight our KG student Vincent, better known as Vinni! Vinni is an excellent student and classmate and always supports his friends and teachers. His teacher Ms. Lenz says about him, “Vinni is mature, kind and always eager to help his friends and teachers. What would I do without Vinni? Our class has so many daily tasks and Vinni is able to complete these perfectly. From holding the door, line-leader, pencil helper, book helper, bell ringer, table cleaner, floor sweeper, hallway and bathroom monitor, he can do it all and with a smile.
“He always has something interesting to share with the class. His favorite hobby is building with Lego and in the classroom he has shown creativity and thoughtfulness in his designs. We are happy that Vinni is part of our ISR community, he has such an gentle character and we are so excited for his future.“

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Hannan

Spotlight On Our Student Hannan
This week, we spotlight our cheerful third-grader Hannan, who joined ISR in Grade 1. Hannan is a really helpful and dedicated young lady. Ms. Carolus who was her Grade 2 teacher commented, “it was a great pleasure to have had Hannan as a student. She always tried her very best in everything, was well liked by her classmates and was always willing to lend a helping hand. I have enjoyed teaching Hannan and I wish her all the best!”
She is a conscientious and caring student who brings positive attitude with her every day. Her Homeroom Teacher in Grade 3, Mr. Elsey, describes her with the following words “no problem is ever too big for Hannan, and she thrives when presented with a challenge. She takes care in all she does and works hard, with great effort to ensure she always achieves her best work. It is a pleasure to have Hannan in our homeroom and classes.” Hannan shows strong social skills at a young age, and we are very happy that she is part of our ISR community.

Spotlight On Our Student Alisa-Fina
This week, we would like to spotlight our shining KG star Alisa-Fina, who is especially known for her charismatic and humorous nature. Her Kindergarten teacher Ms. Kim has some very touching words that describe why we want to highlight her: “I have seldom met a three-year-old who is as charismatic and out-going as Alisa-Fina. She captures everyones attention with her sunny personality and contagious laugh. You will almost always catch her with a big smile on her face and even if not, her frown will disappear within seconds.
Alisa-Fina’s confidence is admirable. She walks through the ISR building as if she has never been anywhere else. She is always ready for a chat with anybody she meets. She is curious and loves to learn more about the world surrounding her. Alisa-Fina has become one of my sidekicks who is always ready to help. She takes any child who needs a friend under her wing and makes sure they are happy before moving on to her next adventure. Alisa-Fina is a joy to have as a student and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for her.”

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Juliette

Spotlight On Our Student Juliette
This week, we would like to spotlight our Eight Grader Juliette, who has been at ISR since Kindergarten. Juliette is an enthusiastic learner who tries no matter the content, likes to participate in class and offer as much insight as much as possible. She is a really kind young lady and a thoughtful student. Her German teacher, Mr. Krönke, said about her, “without Juliette, my German classes would certainly be a lot more boring. This is due to her interesting and unconventional way of approaching things.
“All in all, she is a very keen student whose energy is quite infectious. She has no trouble speaking her mind and gives shyness no chance. I hope that she keeps her cheerful personality.” Her former kindergarten teacher still remembers her well and adds, “Juliette was one of the stars of my KG2 classroom. She was a friendly and sweet child and a joy to have around!”
