Welcome Maxi-Mo Kindergarten to our ISR Family
Welcome Maxi-Mo Kindergarten to our ISR Family
Monday, 7 June 2021
ISR is expanding its educational concept by integrating the Maxi-Mo Kindergarten in Meerbusch-Büderich to the ISR Education Group.
At the Kindergarten, 20 children between the ages of one and six are currently being cared for and educated. The former owners, the Huberti family, have handed over responsibility, characterized by great trust and confidence, to ISR with immediate effect. ISR thus proudly expands its educational offer and includes care for one to six-year-old children in Meerbusch.
With this being the third Kindergarten branch, we are pleased to now offer families in Meerbusch an equally well-founded educational program and to include another exclusive and special location. The small, idyllically situated private Kindergarten is located in a historic farm in the middle of a beautiful and spacious nature reserve. It is surrounded by tall trees and offers the children extensive play areas in a beautiful natural area. Since 2009, the facility has offered children from 1 to 6 years a second home and loving care.
We are honored to continue this tradition and to further enrich it with our longtime expertise.

What better way to celebrate World Bee Day than by opening our very own AirBeenBee?
Our Kindergarten teachers have come up with a very special, sustainable, and creative idea for our Kindergarten students. Our AirBeenBee hotel lives up to its name and offers bees enough space to lay their eggs as well as enough food in the garden of the kindergarten during the summer months. It was explained to our kindergarten children beforehand what an important role bees play in our ecosystem.
Today, we held the opening ceremony for the grand AirBeenBee and our Kindergarten students were the first excited visitors. They explored the grounds with great interest and gained insight into the bees way of life. We would like to thank our great kindergarten teachers for their creative ideas, which are not only educational but also great fun for our students. The whole concept is creatively thought out, and we are all convinced that our children have once again understood and witnessed the special importance of bees for our nature!

Visit of the new JISD School Director
Tuesday, 4 May 2021
Today, we had the great honor to welcome the new principal of the Japanese International School Düsseldorf (JISD).
Ms. Teramura was accompanied by Mr. Sasano, the deputy director of JISD.
For many years, ISR has enjoyed an active and growing Japanese Community as well as a trusted partnership with JISD. Today’s visit strengthens a friendship that has existed between the two schools for many years.
As our new ISR Kindergarten in Düsseldorf is in the immediate neighborhood of JISD, the two institutions have established a friendly partnership from which both sides benefit. The successful visit of JISD to ISR Neuss will be followed by a visit to our Kindergarten in Düsseldorf Niederkassel.
It was a great pleasure for us to welcome Ms. Teramura and Mr. Sasano today, and we wish the JISD community a great start to their new school year.
ISR Mock Trial
ISR Mock Trial
Thursday, 29 April 2021
This week on Tuesday, our students Maria, Alex, and Jonathan from Grade 11 organized a mock trial for their Grade 11 peers.
A mock trial is a simulation of a lower-court criminal trial, where each student gets the chance to delve into a different role and experience what it is like to work in a courtroom. The roles range from attorneys, judges, and clerks to photographers and witnesses, so everyone can experience a unique role. Not only do students practice their ability to formulate arguments and hone their public speaking skills, but they also empathize by putting themselves into the position of others.
In this trial, a police officer, was accused of attempted murder of a high school student. Two teams of attorneys were responsible for defending or prosecuting the convicted and their cases were judged by a jury that ultimately decided he was guilty. Furthermore, to add to the authenticity of the trial, a clerk oversaw any exhibits provided by the attorneys as well as swearing all participants in. The bailiff on the other hand made sure everyone in the courtroom was well-behaved.
As this event was a major success and all the students enjoyed it, Maria plans on planning another trial on an even larger scale for all our upper school students. Another great chance to engage with others as well as to improve important communication skills!

Today, the TV show “Luke – die Schule und ich – Vips gegen Kids” was shown on TV! In this season finale, eight ISR students and four students from the Leipzig International School successfully competed in different knowledge games against actress Sophia Tomalla, actor Atze Schröder, entertainer Riccardo Simonetti and singer Alvaro Soler.
To support our students and cheer them on, we offered our community the chance to watch the show with us virtually! At our virtual ISR Movie Night, everyone was super excited to support our primary and middle school students during the many thrilling scenes. In the end, the students prevailed and won together against the celebrities! We are very proud of our students who not only represented ISR in the best possible way but also showed courage by participating in this television show.
We wish to thank the whole Brainpool team, who supported our students in every possible way and made them feel comfortable in the studio, as well as their parents for the outstanding support and preparations that went along with the participation.
Of course – last but not least – we thank our successful and committed students Hannan, Pia, Lasse, Benjamin, Gioya, Kevin, Jolina, and Mathias for their amazing performance and courage as well as Leo, Cornelius, and Jacob, who actively supported our Team ISR and showed great team spirit.

Virtual Jura Career Talk with Dr. Schröder-Frerkes
Jura Career Talk with Dr. Schröder-Frerkes
Tuesday, 23 March 2021
Today, we had the great honor of introducing our students to Dr. Schröder-Frerkes, a distinguished lawyer and partner at Bird & Bird, an international operating law firm. Within the framework of a virtual discussion, our middle and upper school students had the opportunity to ask specific questions relating to law, Dr. Schröder-Frerkes’ professional profile as well as his experience in practicing law. During that discussion, our students gained insight into the complex everyday life of a lawyer in a lively Q&A round.
Dr. Schröder-Frerkes has more than 25 years of professional experience as a corporate and M&A lawyer and offers his domestic and foreign clients extensive expertise in the areas of M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions, MBOs, group valuations, restructurings, and re-organizations as well as joint ventures. In the course of his career, he has achieved numerous notable successes and was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by the former German Federal President, Mr. Horst Köhler, for his commitment to the development of German-American relations. Since 2008, Dr. Schröder-Frerkes has also served as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (NRW) and on various advisory boards, including ISR.
We are pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity to have extensive interactions with highly qualified and inspiring individuals. These opportunities have far-reaching benefits to our students as they can learn from their experiences and successes and focus on their future plans.
We would like to thank Dr. Schröder-Frerkes for taking the time to show our students exclusive insights into the work of a lawyer. Interactive lectures like these create considerable added value for our students at both schools!
Enriching Learning Concept in Our Kindergartens
Enriching Learning Concept in Our Kindergartens
Monday, 22 March 2021
Our Kindergartens in Neuss and Düsseldorf are governed by a unique concept that promotes learning through play from an early age, thus successfully preparing children for Primary School. It is important for ISR that play and fun are not neglected and that the children at ISR are introduced to learning content in a playful way. We are convinced that learning content with fun is worth much more than pure theory!

Another Amazing CAS Project:
socializing in a virtual way with people in an elderly home
Friday, 26 February 2021
One of our Grade 11 IB students, Chiranan, has come up with a wonderful idea as part of her community service CAS project. Because of the pandemic, she tried to find a way for elderly people to keep in contact with others, be able to have conversations and getting a distraction from their daily routine. Under normal conditions, she would have been able to go and visit them but due to the current situation with COVID-19, she was not able to. However, that didn’t stop her from carrying out this project! Chiranan installed an iPad in a community room in the home in order to call and video chat several times a week with the elderly people there. This gives everyone the great opportunity to meet and socialize, at least virtually.
Chiranan states, that usually the elderly people are always excited to talk to her and in particular those with dementia love to ask her many questions. “Personally I find this very important because they don’t get to talk to a lot of different people during these times and it makes them very happy!” In this photo, you can see her showing her dog to one of the residents.
We are immensely proud of our students, who never let anything get in the way of making a positive impact.
Well done, Chiranan!
