Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Masayuki

This week we spotlight our fifth grader Masayuki, who joined ISR last year. He is such a hard worker and always tries his best. He is very kind to everyone and makes sure everyone feels like they belong. In addition, Masayuki is a very diligent student with logical, quick thinking, high concentration skills, and excellent grammatical understanding. He always enjoys learning, working in class, and just about everything he does! He is an excellent role model and convinced his teachers in a very short time through his academic achievements and his wonderful character.
“Masayuki is an excellent candidate for our student spotlight, as he gives 100% every day and is one of the most helpful and sincere students here at ISR. Masayuki is always polite and respectful and has a very good sense of humor! It is a pleasure and joy to teach Masayuki who has superb programming skills and is also willing to help others. Well done Masayuki!” as Ms. Brand, his academic coordinator grades 5 and 6 adds.

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Sanidu

This week, we spotlight our eleventh-grader Sanidu, who joined ISR in grade 6. Sanidu is a hard-working, kind-hearted, and charismatic young man who has a bright future ahead of him. His teachers comment not only on his continual efforts to achieve good marks in his IB subjects but also his effort to grow through his studies and school experience. His recent interest in Economics at school has led him to explore options to study Finance or Business Management at Universities in Europe. Sanidu’s academic coordinator adds “We look forward to supporting him with these applications in year two of the IB Program.”
His CAS teacher, Mr. Urban, who has known Sanidu for many years, and has led several class trips that Sanidu has been on says, “It was always a fun time!” As part of his CAS classes, Sanidu takes part in the Big Brother/Big Sister Program that supports younger students in their daily life routine at ISR. In this role, his caring nature is a true role model for the younger students. “Sanidu is a very friendly student with a proactive attitude who never seems to be in a bad mood.” his CAS teacher adds.

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Gabriela

This week, we spotlight our eleven-grader Gabriela, who joined ISR in Grade 9. Gabriela is a friendly and responsible young woman who is both approachable and reliable. She is a hardworking student who performs her responsibilities with thoroughness and conscientiousness. As the leader of the Editorial Team in the digital student magazine, O.U.T., she has collaborated with peers and staff and produced excellent work. In the process, she showed not only her leadership qualities but also her ability to work in a team. She is extremely creative and this is also reflected in the magazine.
As part of the IB program, Gabriela participates in CAS classes and has engaged with several projects. She is involved in the ISR SLOⓇ department as a Senior Prefect in the Management Department, co-coaching the SLOⓇ Sports Club for grade 2 students and engaged in the Rhine Clean-up project with the Brazilian Community. “She is a very friendly, dedicated, and determined student” her CAS teacher Mr. Urban comments. Her Economics and Business teacher, Ms. Zic adds “Gabriela is mature for her age and, with realistic expectations, sets goals that she follows through. She is always proactive in class and willing to speak her mind. I enjoy our TOK (Theory of Knowledge) discussions.”

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Leonard

This week, we spotlight our seventh-grader Leonard, who joined ISR in Grade 1. Leonard is an excellent role model who is a shining example of a true Ambassador of ISR. He is a kind, empathetic and respectful student who will offer help to others without being asked. He is a conscientious student who works hard in the academic field, always keeps his kindness.
Leonard has a true linguistic talent; in addition to his native Russian language, he fluently speaks English and, German, and is learning Mandarin as well as Spanish. His fourth-grade teacher Ms. Crush still remembers him well, “I was Leonard’s homeroom teacher in grade 4. He was a clever student who enjoyed challenges. He worked well with partners and was willing to research at home when he was interested in a topic and wanted to learn more. He was fun to teach.” Ms. McLeod, Head of Middle School, adds, “He is an exceptional student who is a role model for his peers in Grade 7! He contributes positively during class and is always willing to help another student in need. We are delighted to have a student like Leonard who represents ISR and our motto “We Enable Great Minds and Strong Characters” in such a great way”!”

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Jasper

This week, we spotlight our second-grader Jasper, who joined ISR in Grade 1. Jasper is a gentle, kind, and smart student, who contributes great ideas to class. He is characterized mainly by his friendly and positive character. He has already developed a lot during his time at ISR and is making great strides in academics as well.
“Jasper is a kind, honest, and an extreme conscious member of 2C. He is always willing to help his classmates. During class time, Jasper works sensibly and is always on task. Since joining ISR, Jasper’s English has improved tremendously. I am so proud to be his teacher.” as his teacher Ms. du Plessis adds. Jasper is also convincing in sports lessons and his teacher Mr. Tokul is enthusiastic about his ambition, “Jasper is always polite and participates in the class excellently.”

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Samara

This week, we spotlight our seven-grader Samara, who joined ISR this academic year. Samara excelled in her academics in Term 1 and received the Subject Awards for Social Studies & Computing as the top student in her grade. She is a hard-working student with a positive attitude towards learning and is a wonderful addition to her classroom dynamic. Although Samara has not been part of the ISR community for very long, she has already shown her remarkable character and academic achievements. Her homeroom teacher Mr. Hladki says about her, “Samara has settled into the school routine very quickly, and not only has she made new friends, but she has become a popular member of the group. She is a well-mannered and helpful member of the class who can always be relied on to carry out any task conscientiously. In advising, she often makes meaningful contributions to class discussions. Samara demonstrates a sensible and mature attitude to school life and, as her homeroom teacher, I am certain that this momentum will continue in the future!”
In the academic field, Samara is making great progress as well as in her English classes, where she enjoys reading. “She endeavors to extend and challenge herself with more complex readings. She can frequently be seen consumed by a book whose complexity is beyond that which is ordinarily expected from anyone her age. From F. Scott Fitzgerald to Jane Austen, nothing is beyond the reach of a reader as talented as she,” her English teacher Mr. Lysewycz adds. Samara also impressed her math teacher, Mr. Nisic, who considers her an inspiration in her ability to solve mathematical problems and share her approach with the class afterward. Samara is also very inquisitive and is always kind and ready to accept new ideas and suggestions. Ms. McLeod, the Head of Middle School, says in conclusion, “We are thrilled to have Samara as a student at ISR!”.

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Elis Su

This week, we spotlight our fourth-grader Elis Su, who joined ISR in Kindergarten. Elis Su radiates positivity and is characterized by her friendly and helpful nature. “Elis Su is pure sunshine. She radiates positivity, is kind to her teachers and classmates, and is up to any challenge. I’m so grateful to have Elis Su in my class!”, says her music teacher, Ms. Bucher.
Elis Su is caring and her enthusiasm and motivation are thrilling. She loves to learn and actively participates in every subject. She is always very focused and committed to doing her best. She is an excellent student and her willingness to learn is paying off – for the past three years Elis Su has additionally been learning Chinese as an SLOⓇ activity and achieved great success. Because of her outstanding hard-working, she not only passed the YCT (Youth Chinese Test), which is internationally acknowledged but also received high-level results. Her Chinese teacher, Ms. Wang-Schütze, and the whole ISR family are so proud of her extraordinary performance and the reflection of our school motto: It’s cool to be good!

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Mina

This week, we spotlight our eleven-grader Mina, who joined ISR in grade 9. Mina is a very friendly and smiling student, who stands out for her polite and proactive attitude.
“She is a lovely student, mixes well with her classmates and participates in class in discussions or answering questions. She has a lovely, sunny personality with a great sense of humor. Her work ethic is super, with all homework, classwork, and deadlines met either on time or in advance” her Biology teacher, Ms. Knight adds.
Mina impresses not only her Biology teacher, but also her Geography teacher, “Mina is excellent in Geography, working hard. Her presence is always nice and her work ethic is second to none.” Mina also shows a lot of commitment in the CAS subject. She plans to start an “Italian Language Club” soon to teach Italian to classmates, and is a dedicated big sister to a younger student. As her CAS teacher finally adds “I just met her this academic year and she is a wonderful student to work with”.

Student Spotlight: Spotlight On Our Student Tsubasa

This week, we spotlight our second-grader Tsubasa, who joined ISR in grade 1. “Tsubasa joined my German Class last year during Term 2. He actively participated in every lesson and showed interest in everything that we were doing. He gives his best in everything he does! I loved having Tsubasa in my German class last year!” his German teacher, Ms. Dopheide, adds.
He is passionate about learning, also about playing football and is very active. His positive nature is contagious, and you will always find Tsubasa with a smile on his face, ready to help anyone in need. ”We love having Tsubasa at ISR!” his academic head, Ms. Morris, adds.

This week, we spotlight our second-grader Jakob, who joined ISR in grade 1. Since then, Jakob brings with him positivity and an eagerness to learn. He is very polite, friendly and a hardworking student. He deeply cares for his fellow human and made such great progress in the last school year.
His academic head, Ms. Morris, says about him ”Jakob enjoys learning and works hard during his lessons. He is also incredibly caring and kind and is a friend to everyone. Jakob always has a big smile and a positive attitude. We love having Jakob at ISR!”
