Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Tizian

Spotlight On Our Student Tizian
This week, we would like to spotlight our KG student Tizian who is “a ray of sunshine in our classroom” and has energy that motivates other students to overcome obstacles, according to Ms. Johnson. Whether it is building the ¨tallest tower in the world¨ with Lego or creating a new game to play outside, Tizian loves to include his classmates in all that he is doing. This year Tizian has worked incredibly hard and we are so proud of him for how far he has developed.
His fantastic sense of humor and kindness brings smiles to all the Kindergarten staff! Kindergarten teacher Ms. Kim comments that he has an incredible spectrum of creative ideas along with the courage and energy to test them out. He also has a clear plan in mind and finds new purposes in all around him.
We are very proud to spotlight Tizian, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!
Every Friday, our Student Spotlight Project aims to highlight one of our outstanding students who, in line with this year’s theme, is striving for “extraordinary achievements” on a daily basis. No matter if it is academic success, special commitment or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

Spotlight On Our Student Yusuf
This week, we would like to spotlight our Grade 11 student Yusuf, who joined ISR way back in Grade 2. Yusuf is a very courteous student who is always very friendly and helpful to his fellow students. He is a very good and versatile conversationalist, so you can talk to him about anything. Yusuf is a very dedicated student and besides the demanding IB program he is actively involved in the CAS projects Big Brother and History Bowl.
His CAS teacher Mr. Urban describes Yusuf as a Big Brother during the CAS project with the words, “He is a super Big Brother for Davud from Grade 2, an Azerbaijani student who has been attending ISR since this year. The two meet to play football or basketball or just to talk and have fun.” Also, his History teacher, Mr. McGee, finds a few words to describe his role in the CAS project History Club: “Yusuf has been a motivated and hardworking History student since I first had him in class in Grade 9. He was one of the early members of the new History Club, re-formed in 2017 at ISR, and this year he has helped lead a major expansion of the group.
“As a CAS project, he prepares Grade 9 students for international competitions in weekly quiz projects designed around the International History Bowl and Bee format. He also took the initiative, along with other CAS classmates, to organize the first intra-school competition at ISR in which students were able to show off their Historical knowledge and the winning team competed against a super-team of teachers.”

Some of our employees took a look at our new ISR Kindergarten building in Düsseldorf Niederkassel today. The construction work has progressed impressively in the last weeks and the building is looking fantastic! Our new Kindergarten families can expect a new and modern building flooded with space and light that will leave nothing to be desired!
In addition to our holistic learning and education concept, our new Kindergarten will have five large group rooms with direct access to the carefully designed playground. Another clue: all rooms have a play gallery where our little explorers can read, play, or relax!
We cannot wait for the opening in summer!
