Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Justus

Spotlight On Our Student Justus
This week, we spotlight our twelfth-grader Justus, who joined ISR in Kindergarten. Justus has an all-round aptitude which allows him to succeed at whatever he puts his mind to. This doesn’t happen without the tremendous amount of work he puts into his own learning and development. He has a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. Justus is a positive, enthusiastic, respectful and hardworking student. “I first taught Justus as his sixth grade English teacher, where he introduced himself as a cheerful, bright, funny, and helpful young man. I’m happy to say as his grade 12 homeroom teacher that he has maintained and honed those qualities over those six years at ISR. He is the definition of a well-rounded student, a renaissance man who excels in and out of the classroom, whether doing complex math and physics equations or on the football pitch. I’m happy to have taught him and enjoy the morning conversations in homeroom where he always brings a positive vibe to the environment.”, as his teacher Mr. McGee adds.
In addition, he has always impressed with his impeccable manners and great sense of humor. He is motivated and very focused on success, but never forgets to be kind and generous to those around him, as his teacher Ms. Leach, who knows him since grade 9, confirmed. Justus also has been involved in CAS and his program was designed around sports activities as it is his passion. He also took part in tutoring projects and the “Big Brother/Big Sister” project. There he supported younger students in their daily life at ISR. “I´ve been with him on a million class trips, and it is a pleasure working with him ever since middle school and see him grow into what he is today.” as his CAS teacher Mr. Urban adds. His teacher Mr. Lysewycz says in conclusion, “Justus’s growth and development as a student of language and literature has been nothing short of exponential. I think that Grade 12 marked a considerable shift in his commitment to academic excellence, and his latest results in English herald new heights of achievement. It has been exciting to witness this development and I look forward to seeing how far he’ll go.”
We are very proud to spotlight Justus, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!
Every Friday, our Student Spotlight Project aims to highlight one of our outstanding students who, in line with this year’s theme, is striving for “extraordinary achievements” on a daily basis. No matter if it is academic success, special commitment or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

Spotlight On Our Student Raghav
This week, we spotlight our fourth-grader Raghav, who joined ISR in kindergarten. Raghav is a kind student who is always doing the right. He is excellent at managing himself academically and has a positive attitude toward learning. He proves his diligence through studying, which leads to his high scores. In addition, he is very enthusiastic about what he learns and never gets distracted, or misses important details.
His teacher, Ms. Osterlein, adds “Raghav’s characteristic exceeds in all aspects-punctual, caring, open-mindedness, empathy, and much more. Raghav is always punctual and the first one to be ready to start each class period. Students need to complete their tasks on time and be punctual to manage their time effectively from the very beginning of class to the end. It is not easy to master this quality, but Raghav gives all his efforts to always do his best for his studies, classmates, and teacher. Raghav’s passion to learn every day helps him be a star student. He truly is a unique person and always willing to help his peers without wanting anything in return. I hope he will always be consistent and continues to give 100% effort into all the things that he does. Most of all his open-minded and positive attitude continues to flourish!”
We are very proud to spotlight Raghav, one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Chinese Consul General Du visited ISR
Chinese Consul General Du visited ISR
Monday, 28 November 2022
Last week, we were honored to welcome Chinese Consul General Du, Consul Lu, and Consul He of Düsseldorf’s Chinese Consulate, to ISR. The members of the Chinese Consulate were warmly greeted by our ISR Management Team as well as excited KG children.
After we welcomed our guests, they received a guided school tour by two of our students from upper school, accompanied by our ISR School Director, Ms. Lyons as well as Ms. Hoffmann, our Representative of the Chinese Community at ISR.
After Consul General Du and his colleagues had gained a full impression of ISR, they gathered in our entrance hall, where members of the German-Chinese Association of Neuss, as well as Chinese ISR Families, were waiting. Following on, Consul General Du held an impressive keynote lecture about cultural exchange. In his speech, he mentioned that it is especially important for him to be there for the Chinese community to continue and share their culture and tradition. Language is an integral part of integration, therefore he has been learning German since his second day in Germany. Consul General Du positively commented on ISR and was very enthusiastic about our philosophy and education system.
To conclude, everyone was invited to delicious finger food and beverages for an opportunity for further exchange. There, ISR parents and guests of the German-Chinese Association had the chance to get to know Consul General Du, Consul Lu, and Consul He personally. After their open discussion, our management team deepened the conversations in our conference room and talked about further cooperation opportunities such as advanced Chinese teaching at ISR and joint events.
We sincerely thank Consul General Du, Consul Lu, and Consul He for their visit at ISR – it was a pleasure welcoming and exchanging with them! We would like to also thank Ms. Dong (ISR mother) and her catering company “Fröhlich” for sponsoring this delicious food.
