Opening of the new, ecological artificial turf pitch
Opening of the new, ecological artificial turf pitch
Friday, 27 September 2019

On Thursday, September 26, we had a successful opening of the new artificial football pitch at PSV Neuss. In total, around 1.3 million Euros have been invested in this merger and from now on not only will the 500 members of the PSV benefit, but also our approximately 1,000 students, will benefit from the modernization of the PSV facilities. Building the artificial turf pitch has put an emphasis on sustainability as the use of microplastics has deliberately been avoided.
Our guest of honor, the Mayor of Neuss, Bürgermeister Reiner Breuer, cut the ribbon together with our ISR students and officially opened the new football pitch. Mr. Breuer underlined the importance of this project and expressed his appreciation of the cooperation with ISR. He said the transfer of the district sports facility to the ISR is an advantage for both parties: “Today is a great day for the city of Neuss. Thanks to a very special form of cooperation many, especially young athletes, will benefit from this renewal and the ones that are still to come in the near future”. After the opening remarks by the mayor, Mr. Soliman, Managing Partner of ISR and Mr. Fuchs, Advisory Board Chairman of ISR, also give some welcome words to the visitors. PSV First Chairman, Mr. Kudzia, also said how pleased he is to cooperate with ISR as it ensures high-quality sport facility for the future generations.
It was a great event rounded out with an excellent reception including delicious finger food from Broich Catering & Locations and a mock soccer training on the new pitch by the American Talent Projekt players. ISR Cricket Team Wins Tournament
ISR Cricket Team Wins Tournament
Monday, 23 September 2019

Yesterday, our ISR Cricket Team, together with three players of the Düsseldorf Blackcaps team, won a cricket tournament at St. George’s in Cologne. Our students integrated the three additional players very well and showed a great team performance.
The match against St. George’s was very close, but good ball handling and fielding, especially in the last over, ensured our win. The win was especially exciting because St. George’s has a long established Cricket Team as compared to our newbies on the ISR team.
Please give Shreyas, Ritvik, Ryansh, Vansh, Krish, Aarav, and Parth a high five, if you see them! Congrats, boys!

ISR Family Fun & Sports Day 2019
Monday, 16 September 2019
Last Saturday, we once again held our annual family event, our Family Fun & Sports Day in bright sunshine. Hundreds of guests, families, teachers, and staff came together to celebrate the first major school event of the school year.
Our dedicated Student Life Organization (SLO®), our Sports Department, our Partner PSV Neuss, and all staff members did an amazing job organizing a Saturday full of sport, games, and fun!
At ten sports stations, the students were able to demonstrate their sporty skills and diligently collected stamps in their FFSD passport to receive a medal. In addition to the stations, there was also a gigantic dartboard, human soccer, and a “Student vs. Teacher” football tournament on the new artificial turf at PSV Sports Club, which was officially inaugurated with the match.
There was also a delicious barbecue and buffet from our amazing Parent Network, healthy smoothies & delicious popcorn from our SLO® students, various CAS stands, where students presented their charity projects, an ice cream truck, face painting, and musical entertainment by our in-house music school, Musicbox Oxana.
This year’s Family Fun & Sports Day was a great success and we are proud that we were able to kick-off the new school year with such a successful and fun-filled family event with our growing international school community.
We would like to thank all student helpers, our Parent Network, the PSV Neuss, Musicbox Oxana as well as teachers and staff for this great day and we’re already looking forward to our next Family Fun & Sports Day!
ISR Swimming Lessons
ISR Swimming Lessons
Wednesday, 11 September 2019

In response to requests from parents, ISR has added swimming lessons to our Physical Education program. Starting this academic year, Grade 2 students will have the opportunity to participate in supervised swimming lessons during their normal PE lessons. Today, our first swimmers got into the water. Apart from the regular PE instructors, three additional qualified swimming coaches were on hand to help our beginners get secure in the water and to coach our advanced students to improve their swimming skills.
The lessons today went really well and the students had a lot of fun! It was lovely to see so much joy on their faces and we are looking forward to more swimming lessons to come.
Here are some impression of a great morning.

Exciting news for ISR: At a kick-off BBQ last Friday, ISR welcomed 20 American students in Grades 9 and 10. The students are coming to Germany for a year as part of a talent project, to get to know German culture, and to improve their football skills. Students will attend ISR, stay with host families to get to know more about life in Germany, and train with our PE teacher, Karsten Baumann, who played 261 Bundesliga games for the German soccer slubs 1. FC Köln, Borussia Dortmund and who has coached several other professional clubs.
The training will take place at the neighboring sports facility, PSV Neuss, which ISR took over at the beginning of the year and upgraded this summer. Within this modernization of PSV, a new artificial turf pitch will be built in the upcoming months which will be necessary for the training of the 20 US talents. In addition to the modernization of the sports facility and our top notch coaching team, the talent project is another component of the expansion of high-quality sports activities at ISR.
We would like to deeply thank all participants and host families for making this project possible and we’re looking forward to the upcoming school year with our new American students! Welcome to ISR: Kainoa, Jack, Carlos, Ethan, Brock, David, Ryan, Aiden, Edwin, Wyatt, Andrew, Brayden, Luca, Hunter, Anderson, Cameron, Berin, Cameron and Rohan!
