Project Day for ISR Students: Jugend – Schule – Wirtschaft
Project Day for ISR Students: Jugend – Schule – Wirtschaft
Friday, 31 May 2019
The project ’Youth – School – Busines’ aims to awaken interest in business among students and build a bridge between school and business. This initiative is led by Deutsche Bank and organised in cooperation with other renowned companies such as Deloitte Touche, Trivago and Rheinische Post. On 29th May, some of our students were given the opportunity to participate in this unique project in Düsseldorf.
35 ISR students started their project day with an interesting tour of the company Trivago, which recently set up its new headquarters near the Düsseldorf Harbour. The innovative company succeeded in inspiring the students with its modern and creative workplace concept as well as the attractive perks it offers its young employees.
The second tour took the students to one of Deutsche Bank’s largest branches in Düsseldorf at Königsallee. Over an informal lunch, the students were given the opportunity to discuss their experience so far and they were also introduced to three company representatives from Deloitte Touche, Deutsche Bank AG and Rheinische Post. In subsequent workshops, ISR students learned about the career paths taken by the three managers and were given an insight into the unique selling points as well as corporate environment at each of the three companies.
Our students were impressed and inspired by the wide range of opportunities offered by the respective companies. We are sure that Trivago, Deloitte Touche, Deutsche Bank AG and Rheinische Post will hear from our students as soon as they hold their IB diploma in their hands.
Many thanks to all four companies and their dedicated employees who made this unique day possible. See you next time!
Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Andrzej
Spotlight On Our Student Andrzej
Andrzej, a third Grade student who just joined us this year, is a joy to teach and be around. His open nature, his compassion for others and his amazing sense of humor ensured his ability to quickly settle in at our school and has made it easy for him to become an integral member of his classroom community.
Every day Andrzej shows that hard work and dedication will lead to success. Not only has he progressed rapidly in his English development, but is also achieving top marks in other subjects. On top of that, he is always willing to share his knowledge with other students! Be it through encouraging and helping others with their work or taking on classroom responsibilities, such as being a class prefect this term, he is continuously setting an amazing example for his peers. We are proud and happy to have him as an ISR student!
We are proud to spotlight Andrzej, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!
Our “Student Spotlight” project aims to highlight every Friday one of our outstanding students who is, appropriate to this year’s theme, “Staying Ahead”. No matter if academic achievements, special commitment, or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Luci
Spotlight On Our Student Luci
Luci, Grade 6, has been at ISR since Grade 3 and is a very dedicated student and a great athlete. This year in May, together with her friends Ari, Pamela, and Mei she won the 4 x75m relay run in 45.94 seconds at the 2. Novesia Sprintertag. Her track and field coach, Jonas Jochem, confirms that Luci is a great team player, who always supports and encourages her teammates to reach their goals.
Never complacent, Luci works hard at improving herself and her athletic performance. In fact, Luci improved her record in Long Jump this year by more than 30 cm! She now has a personal best of 3.40 m.
Luci’s teachers will testify that she is a reliable, well-mannered, and soft spoken girl. She can be entrusted with tasks and she carries them out with 100% dedication. Luci’s interests also include the environment and she has recently started the club, Green Gods along with a few other students from Grades 5 and 6. These students aim to make a difference in the environment with projects like stationary banks, recycled notebooks, and holding discussions on environmental issues in Primary School and Kindergarten classrooms. Using her creative skills, Luci has created a logo for the Green Gods, in order to make the club more recognisable across the school and raise awareness for their causes.
We are proud to spotlight Luci, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!

The ISR Science Fair
The ISR Science Fair
Tuesday, 21 May 2019
Last week, we hosted the ISR Science Fair on the ground floor of the school. Students from Grades 5 to 9 presented their innovation science projects to the ISR community. Projects included a Lemon Volcano, a Potato Battery, and a desert full of life just to mention a few. Grade 11 IB Science Students also presented their various projects in the fields of physics, chemistry, and biology.
All projects covered a range of topics and illustrate the creativity and curiosity of our ISR students.
We would like to thank our talented students for bringing us closer to the world of science in such a creative way and above all a huge thank you to our dedicated teachers who keep raising our students’ interest in the field of Science. It was not without a reason that we picked the famous scientist Albert Einstein as our trademark!

We are very pleased with this result and wish all our students only the best for their remaining exams – in a few weeks the Diploma in this picture will be yours:

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Mio
Spotlight On Our Student Mio
Mio, a student in Grade 2, is known for her confidence, kindness, and passion for life and she truly inspires every person she comes into contact with. Any teacher who has had the pleasure of teaching Mio and learning from her, knows what a bright light she is.
Every student she has ever collaborated with has felt her intrinsically kind nature and her acceptance of people from all walks of life. She is also an excellent musician who loves to sing and perform. Most recently, Mio showcased her talent and passion for music when she sang our ISR school song and inspired hundreds of visitors at our ISR International Spring Festival with her beautiful voice. What an accomplishment at such a young age! Summed up, Mio deserves to be commended for her extraordinary work ethic, her graciousness, her humble nature, and so much more.
ISR is incredibly lucky to have a student who so greatly enriches our community every day. Thank you, Mio! We are proud to spotlight Mio, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Dorothea
Spotlight On Our Student Dorothea
Dorothea has been with us since Grade 1 and is now in Grade 11 and in the first year of the IB Diploma Program. She is a very diligent and hardworking student who is planning on studying Medicine.
Dorothea is also a very talented public speaker and has earned numerous awards at Model United Nations conferences for her skills in debating and negotiating. As ISR’s Model United Nations team participated in the 2019 MUNISS Conference at the International School of Stuttgart, working to address issues such as exploitation of migrant labor, the recruitment of youth by criminal and terrorist groups, ensuring access to affordable healthcare, and improving accessibility and ease of travel for disabled people, all of the delegates represented ISR very well. However, Dorothea was selected as Best Delegate for the Historical Security Council! Wow, Congratulations, Dorothea.
We are proud to spotlight Dorothea, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!
