ISR Students Visit Huawei Headquarters in Düsseldorf
ISR Students Visit Huawei Headquarters in Düsseldorf
Our grade 7–9 students visited the Huawei headquarters in Düsseldorf today, and what an incredible experience it was! Guided by our dedicated teachers Mr. Nišić and Mr. Krönke, a fantastic group of 31 students enjoyed an unforgettable day thanks to the warm hospitality and inspiring presentations from the Huawei team. We are also especially grateful to the team members who traveled from Berlin and Hamburg to join the visit and share their expertise.
One of the highlights was seeing artificial intelligence in action—not just as a classroom concept, but as a powerful real-world tool shaping the future. This gave our students a unique first-hand perspective on how the knowledge they acquire at school connects directly to groundbreaking technology and innovation.
We are proud to foster such strong partnerships that bring learning to life beyond the classroom. At ISR, we remain committed to providing our students with unique opportunities that prepare them for the world ahead. This trip was a true reflection of our motto: It’s cool to be good!
Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Valentina

Spotlight On Our Student Valentina
This week, we are proud to spotlight our second grader, Valentina, who joined ISR in 2024. She was warmly nominated for the Student Spotlight by her homeroom teacher, Ms. Hartmann, who shares:
“Valentina joined ISR last year and has been a dedicated, hardworking learner. She begins each school day with a big smile and a positive attitude. Every day, she gives her best. Whenever Valentina encounters a difficulty, she tries even harder. She truly embodies our ISR guiding principle: ‘We enable great minds and strong characters.’ I can’t wait to see her thrive this school year.”
Valentina also made a lasting impression on her first-grade teacher, Mr. Noomen, who recalls:
“Valentina joined ISR late last year, which was a big challenge, as she suddenly found herself in a school where almost all lessons are taught in English. Despite these adjustments, she came to school each day in a very good mood. She always tried her best during lessons and was self-reflective in every subject. It was a pleasure to work with her.”
Her English teacher, Ms. Barba, supports these impressions, adding:
“Valentina is hardworking, kind, and always willing to help others. She truly embodies our ISR motto: ‘It’s Cool to be Good’, and it has been amazing having her in my lessons.”
Finally, Ms. Vrem, the Academic Coordinator for Kindergarten and Grade 1, shares:
“Valentina is a bright-eyed, hardworking student who is always positive in her interactions with peers and teachers.”
We are proud to spotlight Valentina as one of ISR’s many outstanding students!

Cultural Exchange and Dialogue: Visit of Chinese Consul General Yu to ISR
Cultural Exchange and Dialogue: Visit of Chinese Consul General Yu to ISR
We had the great honor of welcoming the Chinese Consul General in Düsseldorf, Mr. Yu, to ISR shortly after his appointment. He was accompanied by Consul Kou, Head of the Department for Bilateral Relations, and Ms. Zhang, Protocol Officer at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Düsseldorf.
The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by Chinese students, the ISR Management Team, our Chinese teaching staff, and our Chinese Community Representative, Ms. Yuting Hofmann, all of whom were delighted to welcome them. Our Chinese students, together with Ms. Ting Wang-Schütze, had prepared a personalized welcome banner in advance, which they proudly displayed.
Following the welcome, a guided tour of the kindergarten and school was conducted by our secondary school students Lucy and Lawrence. They enthusiastically introduced the Consul General and his delegation to our kindergarten and school daily life. The IT Department presented our innovative approach to integrating artificial intelligence into our curriculum, as well as showcasing our humanoid robot. Additionally, Lucy and Lawrence introduced our University & Career Counseling team – a key factor in why ISR students consistently achieve above-average success in the IB Diploma and go on to attend prestigious universities worldwide. During the tour, the visitors also had the opportunity to attend a Chinese language lecture led by Ms. Li. The Chinese language program is offered at ISR from Grade 6 through the IB Curriculum.
After the tour, Consul General Yu met with our eleventh-grade students for an enriching presentation in which he spoke about China’s long history, technological advances, and the strong relations between Germany and China. The students engaged in a lively discussion and were warmly invited by the Consulate to attend the China Festival in Duisburg, taking place from September 19th to 21st, 2025, for an immersive experience of Chinese culture.
Following the Career Talk, the Management Team once again met with the guests to discuss the positive and long-standing cooperation between the Consulate and ISR. During this meeting, Consul General Yu presented ISR with a very special gift from the Consulate – an original painting of the “Four Gentlemen” (四君子, Sì Jūnzǐ), a classic motif in Chinese art symbolizing virtue, resilience, and ethical ideals.
We sincerely thank Consul General Yu, Consul Kou, and Ms. Zhang for their visit, as well as everyone whose dedicated efforts made this day a great success!
