ISR Family Fun & Sports Day 2019
ISR Family Fun & Sports Day 2019
Monday, 16 September 2019
Last Saturday, we once again held our annual family event, our Family Fun & Sports Day in bright sunshine. Hundreds of guests, families, teachers, and staff came together to celebrate the first major school event of the school year.
Our dedicated Student Life Organization (SLO®), our Sports Department, our Partner PSV Neuss, and all staff members did an amazing job organizing a Saturday full of sport, games, and fun!
At ten sports stations, the students were able to demonstrate their sporty skills and diligently collected stamps in their FFSD passport to receive a medal. In addition to the stations, there was also a gigantic dartboard, human soccer, and a “Student vs. Teacher” football tournament on the new artificial turf at PSV Sports Club, which was officially inaugurated with the match.
There was also a delicious barbecue and buffet from our amazing Parent Network, healthy smoothies & delicious popcorn from our SLO® students, various CAS stands, where students presented their charity projects, an ice cream truck, face painting, and musical entertainment by our in-house music school, Musicbox Oxana.
This year’s Family Fun & Sports Day was a great success and we are proud that we were able to kick-off the new school year with such a successful and fun-filled family event with our growing international school community.
We would like to thank all student helpers, our Parent Network, the PSV Neuss, Musicbox Oxana as well as teachers and staff for this great day and we’re already looking forward to our next Family Fun & Sports Day!
Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Luca Julien

Spotlight On Our Student Luca Julien
This week we proudly spotlight our first grader Luca Julien. He started at ISR in Kindergarten and quickly improved his English.
Luca Julien is a very sporty and talented boy. His PE teacher at ISR says he is very respectful, helpful, and always ready for new challenges. Luca Julien has been awarded the Sport Star of the Week for his class, and over the weekend, Luca won the Stadtwerke Düsseldorf Kö-Lauf for his age group by running 2 km in only 7:38 minutes. Congratulations Luca Julien!
Also academically he is a top student with exemplary behavior. His Kindergarten teacher Ms. Ramirez really misses seeing him work and think collaboratively with his classmates. She says he is a great problem solver, a thoughtful, kind, and enthusiastic student that always had a big smile on his face.
We are proud to spotlight Luca Julien, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!
Our Student Spotlight project aims to highlight every Friday one of our outstanding students who is, appropriate to this year’s theme, striving for “extraordinary achievements” on a daily basis. No matter if its academic success, a special commitment, or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

ISR Swimming Lessons
ISR Swimming Lessons
Wednesday, 11 September 2019

In response to requests from parents, ISR has added swimming lessons to our Physical Education program. Starting this academic year, Grade 2 students will have the opportunity to participate in supervised swimming lessons during their normal PE lessons. Today, our first swimmers got into the water. Apart from the regular PE instructors, three additional qualified swimming coaches were on hand to help our beginners get secure in the water and to coach our advanced students to improve their swimming skills.
The lessons today went really well and the students had a lot of fun! It was lovely to see so much joy on their faces and we are looking forward to more swimming lessons to come.
Here are some impression of a great morning.

Special congratulations to two of our students, Malak and Luca, who finished first in the Bambinilauf and the U8 Run! Everyone today did an amazing job and we’re more than proud to have such a sporty ISR Community!

Today, we were honored to welcome Mr. Stefan Koetz (Head of Customer Unit West Europe & Global Customer Unit Deutsche Telekom at Ericsson GmbH) accompanied by his colleague to ISR. Mr. Koetz visited our students and held a thought-provoking presentation on technological advancements made in this modern world, especially in the communications industry.
He brought with him old telephones that were used in the past and some of our students could hardly believe their eyes! They were amazed that people actually used to make phone calls using these “relics”. Besides looking back into the past, Mr. Koetz gave the students a glimpse into the future by demonstrating the uses of the fifth generation mobiles.
At ISR, it is hugely important for us to invite interesting speakers from many different areas on a regular basis. These speakers inspire our students as they can learn a lot of interesting facts for their future from them. Therefore, we would like to thank Mr. Koetz for his time and his informative presentation today.
Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Felicia

Spotlight On Our Student Felicia
Our Student Spotlight this week is our student Felicia, who has been at ISR since she was three years old. Now, she is in her final year of kindergarten. Felicia has learned a lot at ISR over the past years and is very proud of herself. She always starts the day in a relaxed manner and to her friends she is an indispensable part of the ISR community. Felicia is at first a reserved character, but quickly blossoms and enchants her peers with a warm and friendly smile.
She is bursting with energy and is excitedly looking forward to attending the first class at ISR next year. We are convinced that Felicia will continue to charm our primary school with the same charisma and further enriches our ISR community in the coming years.
We are proud to spotlight Felicia, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!
