Trial day at the Deutsche Bank

Last Friday seven 9th und 10th grader had the opportunity to attend a trial day at the Deutsche Bank AG in Düsseldorf. The Deutsche Bank went to great lengths to give our students an informative, instructive, and fun day. Our students were very excited and were fully immersed in the program.

A few highlights were a visit to the vault, quizzes, a lively session on brand management with Dr. Fabio Ognibene and the closing “coffee & cookies” session at Starbucks with DB trainees.

We would like to thank all Deutsche Bank employees for this great opportunity!

Below are some impressions from the day.

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Gioia

Spotlight On Our Student Gioia

Gioia, Grade 12, has been a student at ISR since first grade. From the beginning, Gioia was a child full of spirits and it has been our pleasure to see her grow into a responsible and goal focused young woman who is preparing for Graduation in June.

Gioia is currently one of seven IB students taking part in this year’s IB Art Exhibition. She is a very talented artist and has worked very hard to finish her project focusing on love. Her artwork will be displayed in the school over the next week and starting on March 26th it will be part of an exhibition at the Deutsche Bank in Düsseldorf.

As Gioia looks toward the future, she wants to study business and she already holds offers from a number of Dutch universities. With her proactive attitude and drive for results, we have no doubt that Gioia will go on to do great things!

We are proud to spotlight Gioia, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!

Our “Student Spotlight” project aims to highlight every Friday one of our outstanding students who is, appropriate to this year’s theme, “Staying Ahead”. No matter if academic achievements, special commitment, or outstanding character traits – we look forward to sharing each of these success stories.

ISR’s Kindergarten children made a wel-come poster for the Consul General.

“As an international school, it is very important to us that international families from different cultures stay in regular contact with their diplomatic representatives,” emphasizes Peter Soliman, Managing Partner of ISR. “We, too, as a school, appreciate the exchange and are delighted that the Consul General has taken the time today to meet with our Indian community and the school.”

“This type of exchange is essential for us as a school and gives the different cultures represented at the school the feeling of appreciation for their home country”, emphasizes Eileen Lyons, School Director at ISR. “We are pleased that the talks were so positive today as we continue to learn from parents and their consular representatives what is important for the families. Despite more than 41 nationalities at ISR and our decades of experience, we always looking for opportu-nities to learn more and grow in our understanding of other cultures.”

In addition to the visit of the Indian Consul General, ISR has also recently welcomed the Turkish Consul-General, Şule Gürel, and the Japanese Vice-Consul, Shinsuke Toda.

ISR Families Joined The Niederkasseler Carnival Parade

Wednesday, 06 March 2019

On Sunday, ISR celebrated a fun-filled and colorful Carnival dressed as Harry Potter and his friends. Over a hundred students, parents, and friends of the school joined us for the carnival parade in Düsseldorf Oberkassel! Our yellow school bus even joined in on the fun and we had an amazing time.

We wish all our ISR Families a relaxing break and we’re looking forward to seeing back at school all of you after the week off!

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Albert

Spotlight On Our Student Albert

Albert is a new student to ISR but he has really found his path to success in school through both academics and sports. Albert is a bright student who is currently enrolled in the IB program. Back in February, Albert competed in the German Indoor Track and Field Championships in Sindelfingen and reached the finals in the 60 meters hurdles race.

With 8.13 seconds in the semi-finals, Albert not only improved his personal best time but he also finished as one of the top eight best hurdle sprinters in Germany in his age group. Albert’s victory was featured in the Rheinische Post. 8.13 seconds over 60 meters with obstacles in the way, we are seriously impressed, Albert!

We are proud to spotlight Albert, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!

Student Spotlights: Spotlight On Our Student Dana

Spotlight On Our Student Dana

This week our student spotlight turns to Dana in Grade 8. Dana has been an ISR student since Grade 1 and she is a Senior Prefect in the Social Responsibility Department of SLO®. But beyond life at ISR, Dana has a passion for dancing and competitions.

Earlier this month, Dana competed in “Jewrovision”, a competition for young aspiring Jewish performers aged 10 to 19 who compete against each other with an overarching theme of Jewish heritage. Dana practiced with her team for 3 months with a choreographer and a vocal coach to put together a dance and singing routine under the theme of Chai (or life in Hebrew). 1,500 competitors from Jewish youth centers across Germany gathered in Frankfurt and performed their pieces in front of a panel of judges, including 2018 Eurovision winner, Netta Barzilai. Amazingly, Dana and her team finished in an impressive second place! This is quite an achievement!

We are proud to spotlight Dana, one of many of ISR’s outstanding students!
