Spotlight On Our Student Shuo
This week, we spotlight our Grade 11 student Shuo, who joined ISR in 2025. His curiosity and kindness shine at ISR.
His TOK teacher, Ms. McGowan, shares:
“His contributions enrich our classroom discussions and he has truly risen to the challenges and complexities that TOK presents. Beyond these strengths, Shuo is a kind, considerate and wonderfully supportive classmate. Quite simply, Shuo makes every TOK lesson a little brighter. Well done!”
His determination also impressed Ms. Baker Jackson, his former English teacher: “His determination to succeed was evident from the beginning. He was a great addition to the class, working well with others on group projects, specifically the Macbeth transformation.”
English teacher Mr. McGowan adds: “Shuo is both cool and good! At IB level, Shuo often asks questions I wouldn’t even have thought of and drives class discussions in interesting and productive directions.”
His kindness shines, too. Former Biology teacher Ms. Abker recalls: “He is an exceptionally kind and polite student. He is also very dedicated and consistently makes a sincere effort in his learning.”
Looking ahead, UCC Counselor Dr. Corbin notes:
“He brings a kind and respectful manner to our conversations and has approached exploring future university pathways with care and thoughtfulness.”
His commitment extends beyond lessons. IB CAS Coordinator Mr. Urban shares: “I got to know him as a very dedicated, respectful, organized and committed student.”
Shuo serves as an SLC prefect and Biology Lab Assistant, is on the Mock Trial Executive Team, participates in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver programme and leads a basketball activity.
SLC and MUN Advisor Ms. McGee adds: “This week, Shuo helped deliver presentations during Advising lessons as part of our Stomp Out Bullying Campaign, helping to share an important message of kindness, respect and standing up for others. Shuo is a wonderful example of what it means to live our motto, ‘It’s Cool to Be Good’, not simply through his words, but through the way he treats others and willingly gives his time to support our school community.”
We are proud to spotlight Shuo as one of ISR’s many outstanding students!
The ISR Student Spotlight Project aims to highlight one of our students from the ISR-Community every Friday, who embodies our guiding principle “We Enable Great Minds and Strong Characters” by consistently surpassing themselves. Whether through outstanding academic achievements, exceptional dedication, or remarkable character traits – we take pride in having already showcased hundreds of students – and there is more to look forward to every week!
