Looking Back: Summer Art Camp 2019
Tuesday, 02 July 2019
Colourful brushes, painted canvases and radiant children: last week saw the start of the school holidays with a creative Summer Art Camp week. The programme, led by Bettina Schulenberg, was fully booked a few weeks after it was announced. This is of course, due to the stellar reputation Ms. Schulenberg has as an amazing art teacher.
The program begun every morning with the classic “artist’s” breakfast, where the students and Ms. Schulenberg all sat together, exchanged ideas, discussed events of the previous day and thereafter, began their creative process. Ms. Schulenberg took great care to make the camp as varied and interesting as possible for all the participants. Both beginners and advanced students tried out different painting techniques on canvas, they painted individual dog sculptures, practiced on their own models and learned a lot about painting techniques and art in general. Lunch breaks were spent outside in the sunshine, where further questions about art were discussed.
The highlight of the Summer Art Camp was the closing vernissage of the students’ artworks created during the week. The students invited their parents, friends, teachers and family members. So many of the guests were impressed by just how much the students had learnt during the week and how beautiful their artworks were, the exhibition was indeed a huge success!
We would like to thank Ms. Schulenberg for her commitment to this creative Art Camp and we look forward to the upcoming Summer Art Camp in 2020!
Ms. Schulenberg offers creative courses in her studio at Hermannsplatz 7 in Neuss. If you are interested please visit her website: kunst-am-platz.de
