Welcome to our Student Life Organization®!

In addition to academic learning at ISR, there are a lot of other fun ways students can get involved with our school and develop their interests. SLO® is the ISR student society.

SLO® is a distinctive and integral part of ISR because it gives students the opportunity to develop “life” skills that empower them to make a substantial commitment, not only to their own personal development, but also to that of the ISR community.

The SABIS Student Life Organization®, also known as Student Life or SLO®, has 8 departments run by student prefects who organize almost all of our after-school and free-time activities, school events, charity fundraising, class trips and much more. All ISR students are encouraged to get involved in Student Life. Most SLO® Activities take place during period 9, which is the last period of the day. From Grade 5 onwards, daily participation in an activity is mandatory during period 9.

Sports, Music, Arts … and more

If you are an athlete, you will love the ISR Sports Program. We offer team sports, local and national tournaments, a partnership with a German soccer club (right across the street from school!), athletic activities, summer sports camps and even organized trips such as the yearly Ski and Snowboard Trip.

Musicians will appreciate our highly qualified and talented teachers in the Music Department. We have a plethora of various instruments for student use and offer private music instruction through our partner music school. In addition, students enjoy preparing for our many recitals and two music concerts throughout the year.

Artists will enjoy the variety of mediums to work with in our growing Art Department. Students use their creativity to design various types of pieces, which can be viewed at our many events, such as International Day, Open House, Family Fun Day and the Grade 12 Art exhibitions. Student art pieces are also displayed in our ISR foyer, along the hallways and in the classrooms.

Over 90 Fun Activites!

This school year, more than 90 different activities were offered by students, teachers, parents and outside instructors which gives our students the chance to explore their talents and broaden their knowledge, such as,

Students take on Responsibility

We encourage students from Grade 6 onwards to lead activities for their peers or for students of younger age groups in order to:

  • Develop leadership, organizational skills and emotional intelligence
  • Learn how to plan a long term project
  • Teach real-life skills and helping students become productive members of society
  • Teach students how to work with other people
  • Rely on students to help create a positive school environment
  • Teach students to take risks and to learn valuable lessons from mistakes
  • Enhance students’ social skills
  • Enrich students’ lives by encouraging them to celebrate diversity

Lastly, leadership opportunities are abundant at ISR. Students are encouraged to become SLO® Prefects, where they will learn many organizational, management and motivational skills. SLO® also offers a leadership and training camp where students learn about working together in groups and team building.

Student life at ISR offers a lot of opportunities to develop passions, talents and interests and have a lot of fun.
