Kindergarten performed 7 songs, including two songs in German. The theme was Our Beautiful World. We sang about summertime weather, picnics, the life cycle of a seed, animals of Africa, and even a mouse on a space mission. Ms. Lenz and Ms. Schneider also lent us their musical talents by accompanying a few songs on guitar. At the end of the program, our families joined us in a sing-along of I Can Sing a Rainbow.
ISR’s performance at the Schumannfest was definitely worth the wait. All three tours were booked out. After an opening statement from Michael Becker, director of Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Eileen Lyons, school director of ISR, and Peter Soliman, owner of ISR, the melancholy mood was set by one of our bands that sung a song about the Year Without Summer.
Our Kindergarten children entered their art projects into the “Napoleons Cruise: Travel back in time with the Sparkassen Neuss Foundation” competition for Kindergartens in Neuss. The exhibit will be on display in the city hall’s foyer on Markt 2 street in Neuss until 9th June during the following times:
Monday – Wednesday: 8.00 – 16.00
Thursday: 8.00 – 18.00
Friday: 8.00 – 13.00
We would like to specially thank Ms. Schneider and Ms. Karacan for their hard work in putting this project together. The results are amazing! So if you happen to be around the city hall in Neuss, stop by Sparkasse and take a look!
The Business@School Regional Finals were held on 18th May at the Goethe Gymnasium in Düsseldorf. ISR was represented by the 10th Grade students: Johannes, Hanna, Adrian and Nadja with their presentation of their startup- ‘Easy Eat’.
From the total of eight teams consisting of Grade 11 and 12 students, seven teams presented in German and ISR was not only the youngest team but also the only team that presented in English. ISR students were complimented on their excellent presentation skills as well as having the most comprehensively developed product idea. Though the ISR team did not make in to the final stages of this competition, our students have made us extremely proud. Well done!
Our mini Grade 2 scientists visited the Planetarium in Bochum on Thursday 19th May. They explored every corner of the exhibition and learned about science in everyday life. The little explorers were amazed by the sight of the planetarium sky with over 9000 stars, planets, constellations and distant galaxies, just waiting to be explored.
Our science club held its second annual science fair at ISR today. Students presented their hypotheses, experiments and results to their peers and teachers. Some of the varied topics on display included cheesy bacteria, flame-proof balloons, hydraulic cranes, ecosystems in a bottle, and magnetic slime. It was great to see how enthusiastic the students were in demonstrating their findings. Their eyes lit up when explaining the mechanisms of their creations and one could feel their passion for science.
Thank you so much students and science department for putting together such a fun afternoon with creative science projects!
As part of the continued dialog about fire safety, Kindergarten visited the Fire Department in Neuss this week. Not only did they get to see lots of cool fire trucks and equipment, but they also got to slide down the fireman’s pole.
It was a great field trip full of safety facts and fun! Thanks Fire Department in Neuss!
