Last sunday, ISR participated in the “Familienfest Rhein-Kreis Neuss” which is a fun and family focused festival in Neuss. Our well known American style school bus was parked close to the main stage and we enjoyed the diversified stage program. A number of different clubs, associations, institutions and volunteers were there and offered various fun activities to the visitors. We had our virtual reality (VR) goggles with us and allowed the visitors to step into a different world.
Yesterday, our ISR Cricket Team, together with three players of the Düsseldorf Blackcaps team, won a cricket tournament at St. George’s in Cologne. Our students integrated the three additional players very well and showed a great team performance.
Last Wednesday, several of our Grade 7 students participated in a unique project in cooperation with the Deutsche Bank an der Kö and Spendezeit e.V.. Together with the artist Elena Panknin, the seventh-graders therefore created a work of art at Deutsche Bank that the artist had planned in advanced in a variety of styles.
This week, we would like to spotlight Evan! Evan is in grade 8 and with the help of a friend, he decided to create an SLO® activity for 1st–4th graders called ISR Multisport Club. The goal was that the students would get the opportunity to play a different sport every other week.
Yesterday, the boys from our Grade 8-10 Football Team won the School Area Championship! High performance and very good team spirit led them to a decisive victory!
Congratulations! Give them “High Five” if you see them in the classroom or the hallway!
Last Saturday, we once again held our annual family event, our Family Fun & Sports Day in bright sunshine. Hundreds of guests, families, teachers, and staff came together to celebrate the first major school event of the school year.
This week we proudly spotlight our first grader Luca Julien. He started at ISR in Kindergarten and quickly improved his English.
Luca Julien is a very sporty and talented boy. His PE teacher at ISR says he is very respectful, helpful, and always ready for new challenges. Luca Julien has been awarded the Sport Star of the Week for his class, and over the weekend, Luca won the Stadtwerke Düsseldorf Kö-Lauf for his age group by running 2 km in only 7:38 minutes. Congratulations Luca Julien!
