ISR is accredited by the German authorities as an ‘Anerkannte Internationale Ergänzungsschule’ (International Supplementary School) and by the US accrediting agency Cognia (formerly known as AdvancED). ISR is an IB World School authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme, and also offers Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) IGCSE courses. The school is a certified member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

We are looking for a full-time Librarian to join our team in 1st of August, 2024.

Responsibilities

Your tasks include:

Teaching and Learning

  • Plans and teaches fixed and flexible classes for students in Grades 1-6
  • Ensures the library is a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students
  • Provides a reference service to the ISR Community
  • Shows students how to access and evaluate information in a variety of formats
  • Assists users with the understanding and observance of copyright, fair use and licensing of intellectual property

Reading and Literature

  • Promotes literacy and the enjoyment of reading, viewing, and listening
  • Uses selection tools and reviewing journals to keep up to date with latest release
  • Organizes and executes online reading tools used by the ISR Community
  • Facilitates Book Fairs, Reading Challenges, Book Week, and other literature-based activities

Library Management

  • Assists in circulation of library materials
  • Oversees the future planning of the library, including an annual library budget
  • Establishes collection development procedures
  • Maintains regular and timely communication with the stakeholders
  • Assists with collection and resource development and management of information resources in a variety of formats
  • Maintains and updates records on the Library Management System, Follett Destiny
  • Coaches the Library Assistant on current library trends and technology
  • Participates in accreditation programs ensuring that the library resources meet the demands of the accreditation teams
Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A formal Librarian qualification or equivalent qualification and evidence of in-service training
  • Experience of working in an international school is desired
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
