NGZ Sportsperson of the Year Award @ ISR
On March 21st, we were honoured to host the NGZ Sportsperson of the Year Award for the third year in a row. This year too, the best sportspersons from the region were presented and honoured- with a special focus on table tennis. Over 200 guests gathered at ISR to celebrate their sporting achievements. Several prominent personalities from politics and business including Mr Petrauschke-Landrat, Mr Breuer- Mayor of Neuss and Mr Jürgen Steinmetz-Managing Director of Chamber of Industry and Commerce Mittlerer Niederrhein and of course Mr Ludger Baten- Editor in Chief of NGZ joined the celebrations.
The talented table tennis player, Miriam Jongen from Holzbüttgen was the overall winner, with around 40 % of votes in her favour. Due to her excellent performance she was awarded the “NGZ Sportsperson of the Year” title.
Another highlight of the evening was the announcement that ISR is now an official training centre for the DFB Junior Coach program. Students from the age of 15 onwards, who are passionate about football, will receive a 40-hour training course at ISR in order to qualify as a DFB-junior- coach. The aim is to give students training experience at a very young age, train them to teach young children how to have fun while playing football and help them learn to take responsibility for younger children. Besides sport-specific education, the training will also focus on developing the personalities of the junior coaches. This is an essential element of the DNA of the school. We have the pleasure of cooperating with professional football coach Roger Schmidt on this project.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the event last night a huge success, especially Oxana Musicbox for the wonderful music performance, and congratulate all sportspersons on their successes.
